Mobile phone maker INQ Mobile plans to launch a Twitter phone in time for the upcoming Christmas sales season, hoping to benefit from the rising interest in micro-blogging.
The handset would be the first mass-market phone with an Internet-based Twitter client, using Internet connections to send 140-character "Tweets" -- Twitter's text messaging service."This can really help open up and drive Twitter use on mobile when usage becomes part of your data package like on the PC," said Frank Meehan, INQ's chief executive. INQ Mobile has sold over 700,000 handsets since the launch of its Skype phone in 2007.
