Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier, today launched the Casio Exilim, a 5.1-megapixel water-resistant camera phone with a built-in LED flash and 3x optical zoom.
The Basking Ridge, N.J.-based carrier said the rugged handset meets strict military standards for water, salt-fog, shock, dust, solar radiation, altitude, and low and high temperature storage.Made by electronics giant Casio, the Exilim takes high-quality photos much like a standalone digital camera with its 5.1-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, 3x optical zoom and image stabilizer. It also supports Verizon features such as VCAST Music with Rhapsody to choose from over 4 million songs to download and VZ Navigator for audible turn-by-turn directions to more than 15 million points of interest. Visual Voice Mail lets customers delete, reply and forward voice mail messages without having to listen to prior messages or voice instructions. The Exilim costs $280 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
