T-Mobile, the fourth-largest U.S. carrier, plans to release the Samsung Comeback and Gravity 2 -- handsets with QWERTY keyboards, 2.0-megapixel cameras and high-speed 3G Internet -- designed for text messaging and social networking.
The Bellevue, Wash.-based company said the Comeback features dual internal and external color displays and a side-flip design to reveal a full keyboard. The Gravity 2, successor to the Gravity released late last year, is a slider redesigned with a thinner profile and revamped navigation and QWERTY controls. Both devices support AOL, Yahoo, and Gmail email accounts and text, picture, video and instant messaging. They offer options such as a MP3 player, Bluetooth wireless technology, turn-by-turn directions with TelNav GPS and a microSD expansion slot (up to 16GB). "We offer phones that compliment the way our customers communicate," said Wendy Pinero-DePencier, T-Mobile's vice president of marketing. "We're excited to be working with Samsung on these two new messaging phones." The Samsung Comeback is available in stores now in Pearl White Plum or Frost Silver Cherry colors for $130 with a two-year service agreement. The Gravity 2 will launch in August in Berry Mauve and Metallic Pumpkin colors.
