A new version of Facebook's iPhone application -- allowing video uploads from the iPhone 3GS -- has been submitted to Apple for review and should be released shortly.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based social networking company said its Facebook for iPhone 3.0 update contains 15 new features such as the ability to add favorite profiles and pages, easily access search and notifications and create and zoom into new photo albums.
Users can call or text contacts from the Friends page and continue a messages if they are interrupted by a phone call.
It also has a new home screen with a News Feed that is more like the one on Facebook's site -- supporting "Like," Events (including the ability to RSVP), Notes and Pages.
"Everything that used to scroll slowly now scrolls like butter," said Joe Hewitt, Facebook's iPhone software engineer. "3GS video uploading for the Facebook iPhone app is a go -- didn't plan to include it in the 3.0 update, but it was really easy to code."
Push notifications is still in development and isn't in 3.0, but is expected to be in a 3.1 update later this summer. Facebook is also working on an Android app.
