Research in Motion is the world's fastest-growing company, according to Fortune Magazine.
The Waterloo-based company's profits have expanded 84 percent over the past three years, while its revenues have grown 77 percent and it has seen a total return of 45 percent.
The magazine ranked companies based on a combination of their profits, turnover and investment return.
The company has been making a gradual transition from business devices to the consumer handsets and currently owns 56 percent of the smartphone market.
The BlackBerry Curve has outsold the iPhone so far this year.
Rival Apple, maker of the popular iPhone, came in 39th place. Major handset makers, like Motorola and Nokia, did not make the list.
