Verizon plans to launch the HTC Touch Pro2 -- a Windows Mobile 6.1 device with dual speakers, dual microphones and professional speakerphone technology -- on September 11, joining Sprint and T-Moble to carry the smartphone.
The Basking Ridge, N.J.-based company said that turning the Touch Pro2 over activates its speakerphone.
It uses "Straight Talk" technology -- high-fidelity sound enhanced by asymmetric speakers -- to offer full-duplex sound and advanced noise suppression, similar to conference-calling devices found in corporate boardrooms.
Running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the handset uses HTC's TouchFLO UI to swipe, drag and tap the 3.6-inch screen to check email, make appointments and view Microsoft Office documents.
Additional features include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi and EV-DO Rev. A access and a microSD card slot.
Rival T-Mobile released the Touch Pro2 last month, while Sprint plans to carry the device on September 8.
Verizon's version will hit store shelves on September 11 for $200 with a two-year contract.
