Smartphone maker HTC said it will launch the Tattoo -- a Google Android device with customizable home screens and access to Facebook and Twitter -- starting in October.
The Taiwan-based company said the Tattoo uses its new user interface called "Sense" that lets people customize up to seven home screens -- such as adding email and stock quotes on a "work screen" or local weather and maps on a "travel screen" -- and better express themselves.
The handset also combines voice calls, emails, texts, photos and Facebook and status updates into one view.
Additional features include a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera, GPS with digital compass, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, expandable microSD memory and Google's mobile services such as Google Maps, Google Search, Google Mail and Android Market to download applications and games.
"The Tattoo, with HTC Sense represents an easy way to shape your own distinct mobile experience and really make it your own," said HTC CEO Peter Chou. "The HTC Tattoo ensures that you can create the most engaging and appropriate mobile experience through simple yet powerful personalization."
HTC announced the Hero for Sprint earlier this month. T-Mobile released the MyTouch 3G, its Android smartphone, last month.
The company will release the Tattoo in Europe first starting in October then roll it out in other markets around the world in the following months.
