The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company said it has signed agreements with Paramount Studios, Universal Pictures and the Weinstein Company to bring movies to handsets.MSpot currently has over 300 movies available through its Web site including new releases such as "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Reader" and "The Soloist." It also said it is in talks with the other major studios and expects to have thousands of titles by the end of the year. MSpot said Mobile Movies works with all four U.S. wireless carriers and more than 30 different high-end phones. Feature films are streamed to the customer's handset on demand and begin playing immediately with stop and start commands. "With so many people watching TV episodes and movies on their iPhones, mobile phones are now viewed as an entertainment device," said Daren Tsui, mSpot's chief executive. "I really do believe that the day is coming when this will be one of primary ways people enjoy entertainment." A single full-length movie costs $5 and can be watched from 24 hours to five days after they're rented. The company also offers a Movie Club membership.
