Digital video recorder pioneer TiVo unveiled a free application for the BlackBerry that lets subscribers search for shows and remotely schedule recordings on their smartphones.
The Alviso, Calif.-based company said its "TiVo for BlackBerry" app also lets users add shows to their BlackBerry calendar to receive reminders.Live streaming is not available. The software works with TiVo DVR Series2 or the Series3 standalone DVR units, but not with a cable box that has a TiVo interface. Last November, TiVo unveiled a similar application for rival Apple's iPhone. TiVo for BlackBerry is now available from the BlackBerry App World.
