Verizon said it will release the HTC Imagio, a Windows Mobile 6.5 touch screen device and the first smartphone to support its VCAST Mobile TV service, on October 6 for $200.
Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC said the Imagio features a large 3.6-inch touch screen display and pull-out antenna that doubles as a kickstand so viewers can place the smartphone on a flat surface for handsfree viewing.For $15 per month, customers can watch live TV programming from a number of broadcast and cable channels such as Bravo, CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, FOX, MTV, NBC and Nickelodeon. The Imagio runs on Microsoft's new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform for a redesigned Internet Explorer Mobile browser with Flash support, access to Windows Marketplace for Mobile and "My Phone" Web backup service. It also has a 5.0-megapixel camera, dual CDMA/GSM global roaming, high-speed EV-DO Rev. A Internet, Wi-Fi access, GPS with Google Maps and a microSD expansion slot. The company also today unveiled the Motorola Barrage, Nokia 2705 Shade and Verizon Razzle. Verizon said the HTC Imagio will be released on October 6 for $200 with a two-year contract.
