Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, said that Best Buy will sell its first laptop for the U.S., costing $300 with a two-year AT&T wireless plan when it goes on sale next week.
The Espoo, Finland-based company said that the small laptops, known as "netbooks," would cost $600 for consumers who opt out of the AT&T contract -- instead connecting to the Internet through Wi-Fi.
Nokia has struggled with declining sales as rivals Apple's iPhone, Research in Motion's BlackBerry and Google's Android have gained market share.
In a bid to increase sagging sales, handset makers and network operators have looked for new revenue streams outside the saturating mobile phone market.
AT&T, Verizon and Sprint already sell netbooks, subsidizing the price in exchange for two-year contracts.
Nokia's Booklet 3G will use Intel's Atom processor, run Microsoft's Windows software, have a 10-inch screen and weigh 2.8 pounds.
