Verizon said it will release the BlackBerry Storm 2, a new version of Research In Motion's screen Storm smartphone with an improved "clickable" touch screen and Wi-Fi connectivity, on October 28 for $180.
The Basking Ridge, N.J.-based carrier said the Storm 2 runs on BlackBerry OS 5.0 with a large 3.25-inch touch screen for improved multi-touch capabilities and faster typing. The handset uses "haptics" technology to respond to "gentle pressure" by vibrating -- so its on-screen keyboard is more similar to typing on a real keyboard. It also offers a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera, music player, Bluetooth 2.1 and adds Wi-Fi capability. Verizon said the BlackBerry Storm 2 be available in stores on October 28 for $180 with a two-year contract.
