Sprint said it will launch the Palm Pixi, a lighter and cheaper version of the Palm Pre, beginning November 15 for $100.
The third-largest U.S. carrier said the Sprint-exclusive Pixi runs Palm's WebOS software to keep multi-task between messaging and email or search the Internet while listening to music. It also features a touch screen, full QWERTY keyboard, 2.0-megapixel camera, 8GB of built-in memory and a dedicated Facebook application. "This phone is a great device for messaging and social networking at a price everyone can enjoy," said Kevin Packingham, Sprint's senior vice president. "It delivers so many of the great features people love about Palm Pre in a fantastic new form factor." Sprint said the Palm Pixi will be released on November 15 for $100 with a two-year contract.
