Nokia today announced a global recall of some 14 million chargers because some of them could cause a dangerous electrical shock.
The Espoo, Finland-based company said the recall includes charger models AC-3E and AC-3U, made between June 15 and Aug. 9 this year; and AC-4U, manufactured between April 13 and Oct. 25, 2009.
All three models were made by Chinese battery maker BYD and sold mostly in North America and Europe.
It said the chargers' plastic covers could come loose and expose wiring, which could cause an electric shock if touched while the charger is plugged in.
Nokia said it has not received any reports of injuries related to the defect.
