T-Mobile has begun selling the MyTouch 3G Fender Edition, an Android-powered smartphone with a guitar-inspired wood-grain finish, for $180 with a two-year contract.
Designed in with Fender, the Bellevue, Wash.-based carrier said the new MyTouch features a guitar sunburst-finish, and comes preloaded guitar application and hit songs from Eric Clapton, Avril Lavigne, Brad Paisley and Wyclef Jean.It also has a built-in music player that lets listeners make ringtones from songs being played, and offers 3.5mm headset jack for headphones and DoubleTwist software to sync and manage music, videos and photos with a computer. Additional accessories include a Fender-branded carrying case and shells, screen protector and a docking station equipped with speakers, sold separately. Running on Android 1.6, the MyTouch Fender has access to Google Search, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa. T-Mobile said it will be updated to Android 2.1 in the spring.
