Motorola today unveiled the Flipout, a pivoting Android-based phone with the latest MotoBlur user interface that focuses on social networking.
The Schaumburg, Ill.-based company said the Flipout has a touch screen display and a swivel five-row keyboard. It runs Google's Android software for seven home screens that can be customized with shortcuts to popular applications such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The company's newest MotoBlur software sync emails, messages and updates from friends on social networking sites -- all with continuous backup. Users can also filter out messages they don't want, making it easier to follow favorites. The Flipout comes with a new Battery Manager program that prolongs the phone's battery power and a Data Manager app to handle data usage. Additional features include a 3.0-megapixel camera with Kodak perfect touch technology for brighter pictures, MP3 player and FM radio, high-speed HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS tracking and remote data wipe.
