"If you recently purchased the new iPhone and have experienced poor reception quality, dropped calls and weak signals, we would like to hear from you," said the law firm Kershaw Cutter & Ratinoff in a statement.Soon after Apple launched the iPhone 4 last week, some new owners began complaining of reception loss caused by holding the device in the lower left corner. Unlike its predecessors, the iPhone 4's antenna is built into the stainless steel band that wraps around the sides of the device. Rather than pulling in a stronger signal, which it was supposed to do, the band ends up being blocked by the hand, resulting in dropped calls and generally poor reception. Apple has acknowledged the problem and suggested that a solution may be in the works. "Just avoid holding it in that way," said Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive. Kershaw Cutter & Ratinoff is known in Silicon Valley for filing a lawsuit against Facebook and Zynga, the social gaming company behind Farmville and Mafia Wars, over allegedly misleading third-party offers.
