White iPhone 4 Delayed Again

By Allen Tsai | Fri Jul 23, 2010 4:58 am |
Apple today said that white models of its new iPhone 4 have been delayed again until "later this year," as the company continues to face component shortages that have proven more challenging than originally expected.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based company, which had originally said the white iPhone 4s would be available in late July, did not cite the reason for the additional setback, nor did it specify a date when the phones would be available.Apple said the black models, which went on sale in late June, are unaffected. After taking over 600,000 preorders of the new iPhone in just one day, Apple stopped reservations amid overwhelming demand and shortages in parts. Earlier this month, Apple said it would give away free "bump" cases to iPhone 4 owners to alleviate antenna problems caused by holding the device in a certain way.
