T-Mobile today posted a teaser page for the T-Mobile G2, an Android smartphone with HSPA-plus connectivity, for release this fall.
The Bellevue, Wash.-based carrier said the G2, formerly known as the G1 Blaze, is the first device to run on its high-speed 3.5G network. There are few details about the device, but T-Mobile will release more information in the coming weeks.
"The T-Mobile G2 will deliver tight integration with Google services and break new ground as the first smartphone designed to run at 4G speeds on our new HSPA-plus network," T-Mobile said on its teaser site. The company didn't give a specific launch date, but customers can get first access to the new handset.
Two years ago, T-Mobile made waves with the G1, the world's first Android-powered device. The G1 generated tremendous buzz for the beleagured carrier, but now, with the evolution of more Android-based smartphones, the field is crowded with competitors.
