Apple today showed off an updated line of iPod products, adding a touch screen display to the smaller, button-free iPod Nano, which starts at $150, but also removing its camera.
"This is the biggest reinvention of the iPod Nano since its debut in 2005, and we think users are going to love it," said Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive. "Replacing the click wheel with our multi-touch interface has enabled us to shrink the iPod Nano into an amazingly small design that is instantly wearable with its built-in clip."
At a media event in San Francisco, the Cupertino, Calif.-based company also unveiled the new iPod Touch, which will include features found on the iPhone 4, such as a new, sharper screen and a front-facing video camera so that users can use its FaceTime software.
It also brought back buttons to the iPod Shuffle, which starts at $50. The company said its iPod products will be available next week.
Apple's iPod business has been slowing as consumers buy other products with built-in music capabilities, such as the iPhone and iPad.
Earlier today, the company announced its new Apple TV initiative, upgraded iTunes software with social networking and announced an update to its iOS operating system that adds the ability to play multi-player social games.
