Alltel Agrees to $27.5 Billion Buyout

A pair of investment firms have agreed to acquire Alltel Corp., the fifth-biggest U.S. wireless company and owner of the nation's largest geographic network, in a deal worth $27.5 billion. The telecommunications company announced Sunday that it had signed an agreement to be acquired by TPG Capital, formerly Texas Pacific Group, and GS Capital Partners, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs. Sprint and Cingular Expand Roaming Deals with Alltel

Sprint and Cingular today announced expanded roaming agreements with rival Alltel. The Sprint and Alltel 10-year agreement is effective July 1, 2006, and encompasses CDMA voice, data and EV-DO high-speed mobile data services. Alltel to Buy Midwest Wireless for $1 Billion

Alltel and Midwest Wireless Holdings today announced they have entered into a definitive agreement for Alltel to purchase Midwest Wireless. Justice Department Approves Alltel Acquisition

Alltel today announced it has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice related to the company's pending merger with Western Wireless Corporation. Under the agreement, Alltel will divest 16 markets in Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska now owned and operated by Western Wireless.
