Cingular Wireless today launched TeleNav GPS Navigator, its first generally available, location-based service (LBS).
Cingular business and government customers can now get turn-by-turn voice and onscreen GPS directions directly on Cingular business devices, including the new GPS-enabled HP iPAQ hw6920. Cingular today announced that beginning Oct. 31 it will offer the HP iPAQ hw6920, integrating GSM / GPRS / EDGE wireless data network, with Wi-Fi, GPS, infrared and Bluetooth wireless technologies.
Customers also can use the HP iPAQ hw6920 series' built-in 1.3-megapixel HP Photosmart camera for capturing photos and videos to share wirelessly, or they can relax to their favorite music using Windows Media Player 10 Mobile. Cingular will sell two versions of the HP iPAQ hw6900 series Mobile Messenger: the hw6925 has a built-in camera and the hw6920 comes without a camera.
The Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system gives the HP iPAQ hw6920 access to mobile versions of many of the familiar Microsoft features found on their desktops, such Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and Outlook. Cingular Wireless today announced the launch of the ZX20, Samsung's first commercially available High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) phone for the U.S. market.

Cingular Wireless said on Wednesday that cable channel HBO has produced a special mobile mini-series based on the popular show "Entourage" that extends the story beyond what is shown on television.

Cingular promised to provide uninterrupted service to AT&T Wireless customers when it acquired that company in 2004, but instead it nickel-and-dimed them and degraded their reception in an effort to persuade them to sign new contracts, according to a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of those customers.
