Verizon Wireless today announced that the newest version of VZ Navigator will be available in April, able to access traffic incidents, traffic updates and find detours around traffic congestion and accidents. In addition, VZ Navigator will offer 3D perspective view, a movie and events finder, weather reports and forecasts, and gas prices at nearby gas stations.

Living tissue responds to cell phone radiation, according to a new study by the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK). While earlier studies have shown that cell phone radiation alters protein expression and activity in human endothelial cell line, STUK's new study for the first time has examined whether radiation will cause changes in protein expression in living people.

Social networking services will dominate a burgeoning market for mobile user-generated content, according to a new report from Juniper Research.
Globally, end-user generated revenues from social networking, dating and personal content delivery services will increase from $572m in 2007 to more than $5.7bn in 2012, with social networking accounting for 50% of the total by the end of the forecast period.

Consumers are more receptive to receiving advertisements on their cell phones, according to new findings from Harris Interactive. The study examined current levels of consumer interest in mobile phone advertisements, preferred advertising formats and the willingness of consumers to be profiled.

Calls made on cell phones do not affect hospital medical devices, Mayo Clinic researchers said, but store anti-theft alarms might make implanted heart devices misfire.
In a study published in the March issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, researchers say tests showed normal use of cell phones caused no noticeable interference with patient care equipment. Sprint and Rave Wireless are partnering to offer college students enhanced safety through instant communications.

Cell phones are not associated with an increased risk of the most common type of brain tumor, finds the first UK study of the relationship between cell phone use and risk of glioma. The results are published online by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) today.
The four year study by the Universities of Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester and the Institute of Cancer Research, London found those who had regularly used a cell phone were not at a greater overall risk of developing this type of tumor.

More Americans than ever are using cell phones while driving according to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Driver cell phone use increased in 2005, with 6 percent of drivers on handheld phones in 2005 nationwide compared to 5 percent in 2004.

Results announced today from one of the world's first commercial mobile TV pilots in Helsinki, Finland reveal the popularity and willingness to pay for mobile TV services, underlining the potential of this exciting new mobile application. 41% of pilot participants would be willing to purchase mobile TV services and half thought that a fixed monthly fee of 10 euros was a reasonable price to pay.
