Sprint announced today the introduction of the LG MM-535. This will be the fifth multimedia handset to be delivered to the marketplace by Sprint. South Korean cell phone manufacturer, LG Electronics, announced that it has successfully completed testing of its ultra-fast next-generation handsets on high-speed network provided by Canadian partner, Nortel Networks.

Siemens slipped to fifth place in the cell phone global rankings as LG Electronics posted strong sales of 13.9 million handsets last quarter.
The news comes amidst growing concern regarding Siemens' mobile phone division; struggling financially and rumored to be seeking joint venture partnerships.

Since Siemens announced it plans to abandon the cell phone market, it has been accepting offers from rivals companies to sell off its mobile phone division. Perhaps the most interested may be Korean manufacturer LG Electronics; however there have been conflicting reports.
Initially German news source, WirtschaftsWoche, reported LG and Siemens were in ongoing negotiations regarding the sell off of Siemens' sluggish division. However LG released a response stating:
