Microsoft today announced Windows Mobile 6.1, an update that makes critical information available at a glance, offers quicker phone setup, and provides enhanced features adapted for the small screen. With Windows Mobile 6.1 users will be able to:

AT&T wants to transform the way consumers shop for mobile devices, using Microsoft Surface touch and device recognition technology. Nokia today announced plans to make Microsoft Silverlight available for S60 on Symbian OS, adding support for developers to create interactive applications that run on multiple platforms.
Microsoft released Silverlight 1.0 in September 2007 as a plug-in for browsers that could work on Windows, Linux and the Mac platform. Microsoft today announced will acquire Danger Inc., the makers of the popular Sidekick phones, for an undisclosed sum. The Palo Alto-based company provides services keep people in touch, stay organized and informed while on the go through real-time mobile messaging, social networking services and other applications.

Sprint and Microsoft today provided customers with a fully integrated GPS location-aware mobile search service on Sprint phones. Voice search by Live Search for mobile using Tellme technologies will also be available on select Sprint phones as a separate download. Nokia and Microsoft have joined together to provide customers with a new suite of Windows Live services specifically designed for Nokia devices. Cell phone giant Nokia will start to use Microsoft's copy protection software to boost the use of wireless entertainment, like music and videos, the two companies said today.
Microsoft's PlayReady technology allows users of Nokia cell phones to share protected pieces of content - like music, games or videos - between phones, PCs and other devices. Nokia will license the digital rights management (DRM) technology, and build it into its S60 software platform.
