On September 2, 2005, the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles issued an Order preliminarily approving the settlement of this class action. Verizon Wireless' site can help Motorola V710 owners obtain information about the proposed settlement and also help them determine whether they are a member of the settlement class who qualifies for benefits in this case.

Motorola announced today that it has acquired from Melco Mobile Communication Europe (MMCE), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, a European team of i-mode design employees and a research center in western France. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With the recent popularity of the iPod and iTunes service, Motorola looked to Apple when designing a music phone. Planned to be released exclusively through Cingular Wireless, the new ROKR E1 features software that allows it to play songs purchased at Apple's iTunes website.

Worldwide mobile phone sales totaled 190.5 million units in the second quarter of 2005, a 21.6 percent growth from the same period last year, according to Gartner, Inc. In the second quarter of 2005, the mobile phone market experienced the second strongest quarter on record (in the fourth quarter of 2004 worldwide sales surpassed 195.3 million units).

Motorola and Phiar Corporation announced a Joint Development Agreement for a project focusing on the creation of next generation electronic circuits which can be incorporated with tiny antennas to deliver high-speed millimeter wave receive arrays. These next generation receive arrays are expected to be low cost with the ability to be incorporated into multiple high-speed applications including Device-to-Device wireless communications and Personal Consumer Near Field Communications (NFC) as well as Medical Imaging, Automotive Radar, Homeland Security Scanning, and Defense applications.
