According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, a total of 9 million WCDMA (3G) phones were shipped worldwide during the second quarter of 2005 (April to June). Nokia topped the list of vendor-rankings for the first time, with a 17 per cent global share.

Nokia today announced that it would not include Apple's popular iTunes music software into its upcoming N91 music phone, countering speculation that it would.
"There is no commercial agreement between Nokia and Apple to integrate iTunes into the N-series devices," Kari Tuutti, a spokesman for Nokia's multimedia division said. "Our main strategy is to provide links to telecom operators' music stores."

Mobile operator T-Mobile and Nokia have signed an agreement for Nokia to deliver its HSDPA solution to T-Mobile in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Under the agreement, Nokia will supply T-Mobile with its HSDPA solution as well as capacity expansions to T-Mobile's radio networks in the three countries. In addition, installation, commissioning and network optimization services are included in the deal.

The Board of Directors has appointed Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, 52, President and Chief Operating Officer effective October 1, 2005, and President and Chief Executive Officer from June 1, 2006.
