The LG VX8100, introduced in July, can now be upgraded at any Verizon Wireless location to include MP3 capability.
Originally released with the function disabled, music function keys along the front panel were non-functional. Customers who purchased phone will be able to bring it to a Verizon store and get MP3 players installed in the devices.
New devices sold will have the music capabilities enabled. The LG VX8100 is currently available through Mobiledia for free after $200 in rebates.

Skype, the Global Internet Communications Company, today announced a landmark partnership with E-Plus, Germany's third largest mobile phone network, which marks an important step in Skype's global mobile strategy to move beyond the desktop.

The number of mobile phone users subscribing to streamed or broadcast TV services is expected to reach 65 million worldwide by the end of 2010, according to a new report from Juniper Research.
While streamed services are expected to account for the majority of customers (56%) and revenues (51%) by that time, the rollout of mobile broadcast TV services at the end of the decade should see broadcast subscriptions and revenues overtake streaming TV by 2012.

Sprint Nextel has announced that the panel in the arbitration initiated by Nextel Partners Inc. unanimously denied a request by Nextel Partners to preliminarily enjoin Sprint Nextel's national rollout of the new Sprint brand.

Sprint Nextel announced that service restoration efforts for customers along the Gulf Coast are paying dividends as more and more wireless sites and wireline services ravaged by Hurricane Katrina are coming back online.

Cingular Wireless reported cell phone coverage continues to improve in those areas hit hard by Hurricane Katrina.
Service in Mobile, AL and Jackson, MS is fully restored, and the majority of coverage capacity has been reestablished in and around Biloxi, MS.
