Qualcomm today announced that it has integrated sound enhancement technology onto the Company's Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipsets. Designed to improve the acoustic performance of 3G mobile handsets and improve the clarity of conference and hands-free calls, the echo-canceling technology is enabled by LifeVibes Voice software from Royal Philips Electronics.

Verizon Wireless is enabling its customers across the United States to join in the relief efforts by donating money to the American Red Cross, one of the leading agencies offering help to victims and survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is calling for participants to take part in a field trial that will help shape the future of the Web on mobile phones.
The W3C standards body launched the Mobile Web Initiative to show users that it is serious about improving the quality of Web access on handhelds, wireless pagers and smart phones. Verizon Wireless is charging two telemarketing companies with illegal solicitation of cell phone users. Two new surveys by GSA - the Global mobile Suppliers Association, underline the fundamental role of GSM/EDGE in the global market for 3G mobile services delivery.
