CSR today demonstrated its Ultra Low Power (ULP) Bluetooth, consuming 10 times less power than standard Bluetooth. ULP Bluetooth technology has very low overheads, which makes it much faster to connect devices and much less power consumed. Verizon Wireless today announced an unlimited data plan for email and Internet browsing. The plan supports up to 10 personal email accounts including popular service providers such as Yahoo! Panasonic revealed plans to include plasma video displays for cell phones to use with AT&T's recently announced Mobile TV service.
"For nearly a decade, Panasonic's engineers have been secretly working on a thin, lightweight low-voltage compact plasma display," stated Mark Balsama, Panasonic Communication Systems Group Marketing Manager. "Many of our new phones will have vibrant color plasma screens that can run on just 1.5 volts and won't require any additional wiring or special power supplies. We'll be able to put plasma in cell phones, business phones, consumer phones, corded phones, cordless phones, and even door intercom monitors and fax machines. Sprint announced today the upcoming launch of the Sanyo Pro-200 and Pro-700, two new devices integrating Nextel Direct Connect push-to-talk (PTT) service. LG Electronics today unveiled the LG Iron Man phone, a limited-edition, 18-karat gold slider modeled after the LG Shine. As part of the promotion campaign with Paramount Pictures to promote the upcoming Marvel Studios film Iron Man, the Iron Man phone will not be sold in stores.
