Samsung announced today that it has created the first LCD panel that can produce independent images on each side of a mobile LCD display. Samsung's new double-sided LCD can show two entirely different pictures or sets of visual data simultaneously on the front and back of the same screen. Other conventional double-sided LCDs can only show a reverse image of the same video data.

Samsung today launched the SPH-B5800 in Korea, a terrestrial Digital Media Broadcasting phone that supports Transport Protocol Experts Group (TPEG) feature. TPEG feature is a transportation information service based on terrestrial DMB data broadcasting. Personal Media Players or navigation devices that support the TPEG service have been released in the past, but SPH-B5800 is the first mobile phone to support the TPEG service.

Samsung launched the SCH-V960, the world's first mobile phone featuring an optical joystick. Consumers utilize the optical joystick key by placing their finger and moving a cursor to navigate through the menu, similar to a cursor of a mouse on a PC.
