Sprint and Nextel Communications today announced that they have completed their merger transaction, forming Sprint Nextel Corporation. Sprint Nextel common stock will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, under the symbol "S."

Alamosa Holdings today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, AirGate PCS, has filed a complaint against Sprint Corporation, certain of its affiliates and Nextel Communications, Inc. in the Delaware Court of Chancery alleging, among other things, that following the completion of the pending merger between Sprint and Nextel, Sprint will breach the exclusivity covenants contained in the agreements governing its relationship with AirGate and that Nextel unlawfully interfered with AirGate's exclusive rights under such agreements. The complaint seeks, among other things, an order directing Sprint and its affiliates to specifically perform their contractual obligations under their agreements with AirGate, an injunction preventing Sprint and Nextel from taking any action or entering into any agreement that would violate the exclusivity covenants contained in the agreements, a declaratory judgment declaring the rights, remedies and obligations of the parties under the agreements, and damages.

The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) and Sprint today announced an agreement through which Disney will create the first national U.S. wireless phone service specifically designed for families. The service, called Disney Mobile, will use the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network and is slated to launch next year.

Sprint today announced its voice-dialing service, Sprint PCS Voice Command, is available for free to customers who are blind, visually impaired or physically disabled. The free service, which allows calls to be dialed by speaking the desired contact or phone number, also includes 10 free directory assistance calls per month. Sprint PCS Voice Command is currently available to Sprint customers for $5 a month.
