TiVo and Verizon Wireless announced today an agreement that will allow TiVo subscribers to remotely schedule television recording using a Verizon mobile phone. Called TiVo Mobile, the new innovation will allow TiVo subscribers to schedule DVR recordings and access related entertainment information from the convenience of their mobile handsets. Viewers will be able to schedule recordings on the go via the same user interface that makes TiVo the best-in-class DVR experience.

Beginning today, gas station attendants can breathe a little easier, thanks to a new service that gives wireless customers turn-by-turn directions in the palms of their hands. Verizon Wireless, the nation's premier provider of wireless products and services, announced today the availability of VZ Navigator - a new tool for customers that gives them access to a wide array of Location Based Services (LBS) options, including mapping, audible turn-by-turn navigation and the ability to find over 14 million points of interest.

Verizon Wireless and UTStarcom announced the availability of the CDM-8945 Music Phone. Verizon Wireless announced today the launch of its online music service, VCAST Music. Offering customers the ability to download music over the air directly to their wireless phones, VCAST Music gives users immediate access to songs from well-known artists at major music labels Warner Music Group, EMI Music, Universal and Sony/BMG, as well as indie provider The Orchard. Letting consumers play music on their wireless phones, more than one million songs will be available for purchase in the Verizon Wireless VCAST Music Store by spring.

In a victory for wireless users' privacy, Verizon Wireless has won permanent injunctions to stop two telemarketing firms from making illegal sales calls to cell phone customers. The lawsuits, based on information from Verizon Wireless customers and company employees who received the calls, were the first of their kind initiated by a U.S. wireless carrier to protect wireless customers from illegal telemarketing calls.

Qualcomm and Verizon Wireless today announced that Qualcomm and its subsidiary MediaFLO USA Inc., are working together with Verizon Wireless to bring its customers real-time mobile video over the MediaFLO multicasting network in the United States. Qualcomm and Verizon Wireless expect to launch mobile TV services over the MediaFLO network in approximately half of the markets already covered by Verizon Wireless' CDMA2000 1xEV-DO-based broadband network, enabling Verizon Wireless to offer real-time mobile TV services of unprecedented quality to its subscribers. Verizon Wireless will be the first U.S. wireless service provider to offer MediaFLO when the network is commercially available.

Verizon Wireless has filed suit and obtained an immediate injunction against a Florida-based private investigative agency and its affiliates to stop their attempts to fraudulently obtain confidential information about Verizon Wireless customers. The civil suit, filed November 2 in Hillsborough County, FL, charges that Global Information Group (GIG) of Temple Terrace, FL, made "thousands of attempts" to gather confidential information without proper authorization and used various fraudulent "schemes" to do so, including impersonating Verizon Wireless employees and posing as Verizon Wireless customers.
