Audiovox 8600

Laurenfarro - you are correct. I have this phone right now and will be replacing it as of this week. I am fed up! The Battery is nearly dead by lunch time and I barely use it. The car charger for it never charges!!!
The thing is just not functional for me at all. The speaker phone in all honesty is funny. It's like a whisperphone. I'd recommend going back to LG or Sony!!!!

The Audiovox 8600
Reviewer: laurenfarro on Thu Aug 04, 2005
Let me just share some useful knowledge with those of you looking to purchase this phone... DON'T. I was given the 8600 to replace the LG 4500 that I adored. I've never had a better cell phone than the 4500. When it broke, I called the insurance company for a replacement. They told me that the 4500 is no longer manufactured and, "the Audiovox 8600 is a comparable model to replace your 4500, to include the speakerphone." (which I insisted was a must have for my lifestyle.) When I got the phone in the mail, it took all the restraint I could muster up to refrain from calling the insurance company and throwing every curse work I could think of at them. Not only is the 8600 an extremely small phone, but it is not, by any stretch of the imagination, comparable to the 4500. I'm a big texter. It took me almost 3 times as long to type into the phone because the buttons would stick or I would hit the 5 when I wanted the 8. To browse through Settings or Contacts or Messages or Tools or or or...., it takes twice as long because you need to go through 8,000 more steps. It looks cheap, the ringtones sound like they inhaled helium and (the best part), the car phone charger that came with it doesn't even fit the phone!! Anyone offering a "Below Average" rating (which would be a huge compliment) or better on this, or any similar, website is just looking to kiss the backsides of the makers of the Audiovox 8600. Do yourselves a favor... LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Audiovox CDM-8600
Reviewer: Ckent on Tue Dec 06, 2005
Lauren is absolutely correct about this phone. It sucks. I only bought it as a replacement for my LG 7000 when it was stolen. The Audiovox 8600 has a very short battery life. In addition, the ringer is so quiet that I could barely hear it. In addition, I experienced many MISSED and DROPPED calls - don't know why. The display is lacking and texting is a timely, hassling ordeal. This phone is a waste and a disappointment. Spend your money elsewhere!

Audiovox CDM-8600 Review
Reviewer: j2k2001 on Sun Oct 26, 2003
The new audiovox CDM-8600 is a Fantastic Cell Phone. Firstly it has a color display which just makes it cool. Lets face it people . coolness is always a factor in buying a cell phone. Anyways , there are alot of features on this phone , some useless, but hey , there there and out of the way so its all good. A few problems with the phone are the short battery life due to the color screen. Its possible to download pictures onto it from your computer which is a great feature. The reception of this phone is very good but the voice dial is nearly useless but is made up for with the brilliant speaker phone. Get this phone ! You wont regret it , I know I havent yet....

Great Basic Phone
Reviewer: dbhmgb on Thu Oct 20, 2005
Nice sound, volume easily adjustable – both ear and ring. Small, yet the buttons are easy to push. No frills – just a basic set – that’s all I need. Always have all bars for reception (I know that’s my carrier) but the phone pulls the signal well. Seems well made, I’ve had zero problems.
