I've had the Samsung a707 aka the Samsung Sync since November of 2006. So needless to say I've experienced all the positives and negatives of this phone. I typically do not post reviews but since other people have stated their opinion I felt I should as well as I read some things that I feel are not properly reported. As with most cell phones there are good things and bad things with this device. The good thing is that it has a nice 2.0 meg camera that takes crystal clear pictures, the downside to this is the zoom of the camera is not that spectacular. This is something I've learned to deal with and isn't to much of a concern. The camera does have a flash, which was previously reported not to have. I found it hard to find myself but going into the setting of the device if it is set to daytime or daylight I'm not sure but you get the point, it will not flash but all other settings will. The flash is not visible but you will see it when you view the picture. The camcorder in the device is nice as well and you can record as long as you want as long as the external memory is not full. I was able to zoom in and out with my phone while in recording a video and can send you a video to prove just that. The major things I've found with this phone I've found to bother me the most is the low sound on the device. The sounds is clear but not that loud and I'm the type of person that loves music loud, I like to listen to my songs via the mp3 player on the device while taking a shower but its hard to hear the songs when doing this. Also as should be expected with any slim phone the battery life is not that great. Even with bluetooth deactivated and using the phone sparingly I have to charge the phone every two to three days. Here lately the battery life seems to be getting worse but if this continues I'll take that up with Cingular. All in all I would rate this device a solid 8 out of 10 because it is just a mid-range phone.

Good phone but a few minor problems with it such as:
The camera:
When you click to take a picture it waits a good 5 seconds or so before it snaps, and during which time, you better keep your hand still or the picture will turn out blurry, it took me about 10 tries until I finally was pleased with a picture I took of a poster in my room to use as my background.
The Video Camera:
I don't have much bad about the video cuality, it's really good for a phone, but I am annoyed that you can't zoom in or out while in video mode, you can before you click, but while you film you cannot zoom further in or out.
MP3 player:
I haven't gotten a memory card yet because it doesn't come with one, but it can have .512, 1 or 2 GB memory which is pretty good, but the 2 GB costs 100 bucks, I'll get it eventually, but I'm in no rush. I've used my friends memory cards from other phones, and I do like the sound quality and volume, for a phone at least. I was a little annoyed that when you try to open the music player without opening the phone physically, you have to start with the first song and then skip to what ever song, there is no list of songs to choose from, you go to the music folder and it plays from 1-lets say 300, what if I want to listen to the 250th song? I have to skip by hand 250 times, or I'll have to open it and do it.
All in all a good phone, but I don't know if I would get it again.

I've had this phone for a few days now and I must say - I'm very impressed.
For $50 after $50 mail-in rebate - this phone has it all. 3G (SUPER fast internet, video, etc.), Bluetooth, big bright screen, sexy slim design, 2 MP camera (no flash though), video recording, memory upgradeable to 2 GB.
For $100, you won't find a more feature-packed phone than the SYNC.

Swapped a cheapo Samsung 407 for this phone because the 407 had a terrible audio quality to the calls. The Cingular rep told me the guts of the 407 and the 707 were the same, except for the multimedia capabilities, and I would not hear any difference (but he was ready to take my upgrade money). Audio is much better, quality build is better, makes you realize why they give away certain phones. Only thing better on the 407 was the front screen.

I live in Ocala, FL and the 3rd Generation network (ATT’s WCDMA)is not available in my area. I upgraded to the Samsumg Sync because it was the only phone that it had a 2.0 Mega pixel camera and this phone feature works great. However, I have had issues with voice calling. On my old phone, Nokia 6102, you have the capability of turning the data feature to a stand by mode, "If you select When needed, the device uses a packet data connection only if you start an application or action that needs it." from Nokia 6102 manual page 41. On the Samsung Sync this option is not available and the data connection is always connected. This feature makes voice calling a nightmare. In the area, i live i have very good signal but i sit between a tower that has the EDGE Network and one that has the GPRS Network. Whenever it switches from tower to tower from EDGE to GPRS (or vice versa) it loses signal. Whenever you lose signal, the call is dropped. My main purpose of use is the capability of making voice call and this SAMSUNG SYNC A707 has been disappointing.
