I got this phone 2 years ago. I've given it hell in a full contract's life. With my free upgrade coming im considering getting either the Motorola E815 or the LGVX8300. But, the point is on the slider.
1. Phone Service: The service/reception on this phone was premium when i first bought it. Now, however, i have little service in many places i used to have full. Dropped calls are not frequent but happen on occasion. Messaging is mediocre at best. My biggest concern was, unlike many phones, the time it took for it to accept one letter on text messages was depressingly long, making the space then backspace technique a must if two sequential letters are on the same number key. Many text messages would not arrive until long after the sender sent them and sometimes, I would get a notification of a new text but there wasnt one in the inbox, the sender would have to resend it for me to get it.
2. Battery Life: Battery life on this phone was terrible. Often on a full charge i could get maybe 3 to 4 continuous hours of talk before it died. At least the warning was perfect. When ( not if ) WHEN your battery got low it would beep maybe 20 minutes before death and once more 30 seconds before,
3. Urganomics: The phone was very comfortable. Im a big fan of single hand opperation phones, ie. not flip phones. Its nice and small but not too small. The slide feature is very cool, hen i first got it it drew alot of attention. There are however a few problems with it. One thing i found particularly annoying was the lack of functionality when slid closed. You can not do ANYTHING when its slid closed. With all the menu/direction buttons and the main/only screen still available when closed, the phone makes you open it for anything.
4. Durability: Now, given i am a teenager so this phone has gone through hell and back for me, it still, on its last legs of service under my contract, is beginning to fail. For someone my age I have taken good care of it ( only a few drops, never thrown, dunked, or stepped or anything ) Everything has held up well with the exception of the slide function. It still slides well but somewhat too well now as it slides closed extremely easily ( which automatically hangs up any call or deletes and message you were writing ( although, to be fair, there is an option to disable the close = hangup function ) ). But the biggest problem is that now, the phone's screen rarely works. It has to do with the slide "hinge" if you will. The screen often just goes blank because the wiring between both halves is giving out. This is a MAJOR ANNOYANCE and can be fixed as I, and many teenagers, do by banging it into submission. After a good few whacks on a table or hard surface, the screen returns... for a good 10 seconds or so.
5. Optionals: These was, in my opinion, the phone's greatest shortcomings. No camera, the menu is plain and boring, "Get It Now" ( the only option for customization in terms of ringtones and wallpapers) offeres only one program for True Tones ( that is, pieces of real songs), Sony Musicbox ( the afforsaid program ) is very difficult, and though numerous, default ringtones are unorthodox and some simply rediculous. No bluetooth either, only a corded handsfree would work.
Overall: This phone was fun at first, but mostly because of the sliding feature. There are nearly NO options for customization in terms of tones and wallpapers. There were many default tones and wallpapers but many of them were childish and rediculous such as the "Happy cricket" ringer. With battery life at barely acceptable levels, it sometimes seems like a one converstion device. To be fair however, though it almost never had "full bars" it could opperate surprisingly well on only 1 bar.
If you are looking at a stylish phone, this is it. But if your looking for a good TELEPHONE/media device, you may want to keep looking

I baught this phone for $120 During christmas '04.
This phone is very attractive and once I slide it, it draws automatic attention. The software was nice and I like all the features in it. I personally loved the speakerphone. The sound was great and it was at a perfect loudness. I dont get ringtones w/ voice but I can live with that. The games that came in it are pretty fun. The battery life isnt all that great, but I can live with it.
Pros:
- Slides!
- Really nice button layout
- G00d software
- Really small
- Great games
Cons
- Battery life SUCKS!
- No camera, it would have been great on back of the top layer.
- No real tones
- No internet
Thats it! I give this phone a
8/10 for looks/software
a 9.7/10 for the idea to create the phone.

i think this phone was one of the best i've had. Its got sum awsome features like the voice dial. i also liked the unique features my friends were like "what the hell is that". i upgraded from a t720 and i knew this was gonna be my coolest fone. speakerfone is a button away. and ive even figured out a way to get ringtones with the words on my fone for free. Plus i could put wallpaper on it so i liked that i could do that on this fone. I didnt like that on the voice dial you sumtimes say 8 and it registers a 9. Plusi got this on a verizon deal and i only think they sell it for virgin mobile.
On a scale from 1- 10 i just have to gove it an overall9.5 because of all its great features. The one thing that would have made it a 10 would be a camera. But hey no fone is perfect.

I love the style of the phone, and the whole slidey thing... But the fact that the only place to get ringtones so far that I have found is on the Virgin Mobile site, for $2, which I don't want to pay... I also found that I don't receive all text messages. If I do get them, it's always a few minutes to a few hours, and sometimes even days after they are sent. I also can't use the AIM forwarding, which really bugs me. If I could, I would get a new phone, but since I got this for Christmas, and I'm only fourteen, I can't very easily go out and buy a new one. I liked this phone when I first got it, but if I got to choose now, I would definately pick a different one. I don't know if it is all Slider phones, but this is how mine is.

Slider style is definitely the phone for me. As soon as I saw this phone on virginmobile.com I feel in love. It's has just about everything I could have hoped for. It's stylish, uniquely designed, has great reception, almost all the features I wanted (including color screen, downloadable ring tones, and text messaging), but best of all it's pre-paid.
If I had to give it a score from 1-10 I'd give it a 9. Why not a 10 you ask, well because of a few features that would have been nice, but I can live without. They include a camera, voice ring tones, and web access.
Overall this phone is awesome, the best one I've bought so far and one of the best I've seen available. If you're looking for a unique `pre-paid' phone, this is the one to get!
