If you want a phone that gets the job done, get this phone. If you want a lot of features you can show off to your friend, do not get this phone!
First of all, I got this phone to replace a nokia with similar features. I had just lost the nokia, and just wanted a cheap phone as soon as possible. I got the LG 1300 for about 100 bucks. At the time, it was probably a little overpriced. Nowadays (fall 2006) I wouldn't pay more than $30 for this phone.
PROS
* It's light as hell! I'm talkin' the lightest cell phone you have ever picked up.
* It's small as hell! I'm talkin' the smallest phone you have ever seen. It fit in my change pocket - you know, the little pocket inside the right pocket of your jeans... Yeah, it fits in there... And 90% of jeans (guy's jeans - not sure about the females) have the change pocket.
* It's color. I know this is standard, but I can't stand b/w monochrome phones...
* Decent battery is included (Lithium Ion). Holds a charge for a long time. Even when you think it's gonna die, it holds on just long enough to get you back to your charger. It also charges fast and if you see it stop blinking - you know it's charged.
* It's solid. What I mean is, it's not gonna break - Unless you want it to. I have dropped this thing 1000 times and it keeps going. I don't think it has enough weight to create the force necessary to break it from a fall of less than 10 feet (if that makes sense).
* It has a mirror. Good for checking teeth and nosehairs in a date/interview situation
CONS
* Girly - I'm a dude, and I have this small-ass silver phone with a blinking mirror, great...
* No speaker phone! Dude, I need a speaker phone...
* No mp3 support - Only polyphonic ringtones. I guess this is due to the quality of the speaker.
* Volume settings are F'ed up. You can choose from Vibrate, Ring w/o vibrate (vol 1 - 5), and vol5 ring + vibrate.... and thats it. The problem is, you can't set the ringer to a sensible volume (like 2) and still have it vibrate when people call... rediculous.
* Too Small - It's easy to lose a phone this small, or wash it with your laundry (thats how I deaded it, d'oh!)
Thats it... Overall it's a very well designed phone...like I said, It gets the job done but lacks a lot of features...

when i got my phone, i just wanted something simple without a ton of bells and whistles (cameras and all that didnt matter to me). but i still wanted something small and stylish, with a colour screen.
i really love this phone.
first of all, its a very attractive phone. silver, with a circular mirror on front which (for some reason will sometimes flash either red or green. im not sure why...maybe something to do with the signal?) then you open it up, and the keypad is backlit blue...it looks very nice. you also have the option of changing wallpapers on the phone's screen. it comes with some nice ring tones, although not as many as i thought there would be. but there's always the option of downloading more.
the phone is nice and small. very light weight. and sleek in apperance.
operation of the phone is very simple, and most tasks are pretty self-explanatory.
the ONLY problem ive had with this phone was trying to set the security pin. it might have just been my phone, but be warned that if you try to do this, you might want to have the PUK code ready as i was asked for it and i didnt even enter my pin incorrectly. (im still puzzled by this, but its all worked out now. and its not much of a problem.)
basically, id reccomend this phone if things like cameras and radios dont appeal to you. overall, its pretty awesome and relatively affordable.

My wife and I had each, a vanilla Nokia phone, which we only used for phone calls. Our service was ATT Wireless, and we used that for about 2 years. Then ATT was absorbed or whatever by Cingular. We continued using our Nokia phones with no problems.
Then a couple weeks ago my wife came home with a couple new (LG C1300) phones, and said, "we have migrated to Cingular, and they gave us 2 free flip-open phones". The first thing I noticed is that the keys aren't designed for an adult human being. There was no place to use my earphone/microphone on the phone while driving a vehicle. And also while holding the phone, I am constantly setting off the volume/ring buttons inconviently located on the side where an adult human holds a phone.
But..... programming the phone was pretty easy (as long as you use a toothpick or something small instead of your fingers) and it's cuter than my old vanilla flavored plain Nokia phone (which I miss dearly).
The really other bad thing is phone calls are constantly interrupted because of a poor antenna. I finally called customer service after a series of cutoffs. Apparently LG was aware of this 6 months or so ago, and started replacing the stock antenna with a workable antenna. But--- alas!....they didn't get all of them, especially ones sent to Cingular as promos (free). Guess who got one of them at Cingular??? ... Well, the person (from customer service/warranty) told me he would send me a couple of the "good" antennas and I should have them in about 2 weeks. (??)..AND there would be no charge! -------WOW!!! no charge! --- for something I should have got in the first place to make my cell-phone a WORKABLE cell phone.
So, in summary, if you like a cute little flip-open phone with no frills and can handle the micro-size keys, go for it. But make sure you ask about the good antenna (also known as a "red" antenna) before you accept it. If you get it from Cingular in a little place stuck in a department store, let it be known that the person behind the counter usually doesn't know "diddley" about anything (especially about the "red"/good antenna).
All, in all, I want my old plain jane Nokia back!

I have had Cingular for 2 years and as my contract came to an end, I decided to sign another contract and get a cool flip phone (because my previous phone was a bulky Nokia). I ordered my LG C 1300 off of the Cingular site, and I have to admit, when I first got it, I was happy with it. I soon started to notice that the battery never kept a charge. I had to charge it over night every other night. Finally, 3 weeks into my new contract, the phone just died. What followed was such a hassle with Cingular. Another tip, do not use Cingular! I don't care if they are the best deal, go with another company at a higher price, you get what you pay for. The people that work for Cingular, they just don't know what is going on at all. I went from being sent to my local mall to get a new phone to replace it (because it was within the 30 days), to having my old phone turned back on and my old contract re-opened. Now Cingular has no information showing that I even signed a new contract or received a new phone, they don't even want me to send this crappy LG C 1300 back to them. But that is another story entirely. I also had problems with the ringtone of this phone. I never could hear it ring, I also put it on the highest volume, but somehow it would end up back on mute or vibrate. One of the problems is that the volume button is on the side of the phone. In a pocket or purse, this button can get pushed up against something and turn down or up.

I use to have a Nokia phone, no special features, Monocrome, monotone, ugly...but at least I could talk.
My wife decided to upgrade our cell phones last month and they offer this LG which she accepted.
Didn't take long to realize that the LG interface is very very hard to understand, the key sequences to take any action changes for each function you choose... If you had phone numbers saved on your memory chip from a previous phone, it places all numbers under a second category so you can't dial any number directly, you have to select the name, then select the 2nd number.
Let's talk about the signal..."Can you hear me now? No, I DONT !!!!"
You can't have a 5 min conversation before your call drops for no apparent reason... At first I thought was the provider (Cingular) but suddenly anywhere I go, there is no signal available and if it does, you cannot talk at all, the volume keeps going up and down even if you're in a still position with ALL bars available.
I think the 'GODS' were watching my agony and made my dog chew the phone...I took the oportunity to split it in two pieces as well... now I'll have to buy a new one... which I don’t care as long as I stay far far far away from LG brand.

I really like this phone so far...except for this one thing...
There seems to be a problem in the way Cingular programs the SIM card in the LG C1300 phone that I have. I like the phone so far...it's just a touch less sensitive than my wife's Motorola V400, but the earpiece is louder, and that's good.
The problem with the SIM card programming deals with the e-mail functions...
The option to "Send to E-mail" when trying to reply to e-mails I receive does not appear on the menu options list. The option to "Send to Number" does show up, but that does NOT send the e-mail reply to the person that sent it...I have no idea where it sends the message.
I've added the Cingular "Media Basics" ($7.99) package to the my phone service, thinking that I'd be using this more now. Unfortunately, since I am UNable to "reply" to any e-mail that I'm sent, the process is cumbersome to say the least.
One must manually enter the e-mail address of the person you wish to send every e-mail too, and you can't even save their e-mail address in the "address book" list...again (I suppose), because this ability isn't programmed into the SIM card...at least not (that I can find) on my phone.
On pages 46 and 48 of the C1300 manual, there are descriptions of e-mail procedures from the menu that just are not available the way Cingular has programmed this phone. At the bottom of the page it clearly states..."Shown only if supported by SIM card"...and the options just don't show up...even though it does seem that the phone is capable of them.
On pages 58 and 59 the manual again speaks of being able to "reply" to messages, but that's just not available on my phone.
I'd strongly suggest that someone at Cingular read the manual for this phone (while trying to use it), and correct the messed up way that they are programming the SIM card.
Not being able to "Reply" to any e-mails you receive in a conventional fashion is just plain stupid. That would be the use I would make of the e-mail functions on any phone about 95% of the time.

-for stock games..there was this one interesting version of snake..i didnt reaLLy Like it
-the service was way bad..i understand cinguLar is one of the Lower rate service providers but even the v60 picked up more bars than the c1300 in the same Location..aLso the bars wouLd go up and down Like there was a cLoud of service going over my head aLL the time
-i dropped it muLtipLe times..it never died..it maybe froze once or twice in the five months i had it
-phonebook was okay..i Like the fact that i couLd assign a group icon to a group of peopLe
-speed diaLs were good..just press and hoLd any number from 2 through 9 <1 was voicemaiL>

The LG c1300 is one of the worst phones I have ever had!!!
I am on my 4th lg c-1300 in less than 4 months.
problems
1) *first phone*The phone screen shorted out leaveing me with a useless phone other than receiving calls
2) *second phone* This phone would shut itself off for no reason just power down when fully charged at random times of the day even in the middle of a call.
3) * the third phone* Gets NO signal other than 1 bar bounceing to 0 bars of signal. The 2 nokias I have has full signal after spending almost 2 1/2 hours on the phone they are replacing it with a motorola v180.
all in all I would not recomend this phone to anyone I know of 2 people that have nothing but trouble of the lg c-1300 phones with some of the same problems I have had with it. I think the phone has some major bugs in it that take some time to show up because when I first got the forst phone it was a good phone for about 2 months then the problems started up and continue through today.

I did have u.s. cellular service and an Audiovox phone. I was satisfied with the service and the phone, but then I decided to switch to Cingular for what seemed like a better price package. I chose the lg c1300 on the dealers recommendation. Over one year into this contract , I have never had a clear, unbroken conversation on this phone. They exchanged my phone for another c1300 but refused to let me upgrade. This phone is just as bad. I have contacted them twice since, and they just tell me I can upgrade after May of 2006. Other that that they refuse to do anything. I will switch back to US cellular, and choose my phone more carefully. Thats why I am reading these forums.

I've had my C1300 for a few months and at first it was not as receptive as I had hope it would be. I was previously on AT&T Wireless and swapped over to Cingular, so that might have had something to do with it.
Cingular just send me new antenna's for both of my phones, and now they seem to pick up in places they hadn't been.
Off brand acessories are hard to find. Walmart don't have any yet, but they just started displaying this phone.
I bought a USB cord, but then couldn't find any software for it.
But I waited and they started adding support for the phone.
Software that I have found to work with it is Datapilot
Datapilot started supporting the Address Book and Ringtones and their last update added backgrounds. I'm hoping the next update will add the Internet feature.
The only other software I've found is Futuredial
But they only support the address book.

Before I got this phone I checked this website to see the reviews and I wanted to know if it was the right phone. I got mine about 2 months ago and i love it! I dont reccomend it for adults. The buttons are very small but it is okay if u have small fingers. I reccomend it for teenagers its a great phone for girls. The mirror on the front is not very big but trust me, it comes in handy. My favorite thing is that it is so light! It is so much smaller than alot of the other cell phones and it weighs almost nothing! Actually I dont think I have seen a smaller more convinient phone. One problem to me is that the buttons on the side that control volume and ringing volome are right where u put your hands when you are talking on it. I always hit them but it really isnt a big deal. I wouldnt reccomend it if you want something really fancy with cameras and the extra stuff. I think its a great phone. i love it! highly reccomended

I think all of the people here who have complained about the LG C1300 have just been unlucky. I have used this phone for nearly two years now, and have had NO problems at all! Compared to some of the phones I have seen recently, it's kind of out-dated now. But, it has always been reliable for me.
Here are some responses to complaints other users brought up:
Battery Life - The battery on this phone is amazing! It only takes me about two hours to charge it up good enough that I can go without charging it again for another five days or so.
Ringstone Volume: The ringtones on these phones are actually obscenely LOUD! I always hear my phone ringing, even when it's not on maximum volume. As for the volume buttons on the side, it's NOT true that the volume changes easily. When I have the phone in my purse, the only time I accidentally change the volume is when I set something heavy, such as a textbook, on top of it.
Signal: I get incredibly good signals with this phone! I would be in the girls bathroom, in the middle of my school, and have at least three bars. There have been very very few times I haven't been able to get service with thier phone.
Things I Personally Like About This Phone:
Durability: I am a clutz, so please believe I have dropped this phone a bajillion times since I got it, and it still works perfectly fine.
Keypad: Typing on this phone is incredibly easy and user-friendly.
Phonebook: The contact list options on this phone are great! I don't know how it is on newer phones, but I love the setup on this one! I can have up to, I think, eight groups, each can have a different ringer and icon. Each contact can have a mobile, house, and work phone, and you can also add e-mail address and memos to each.
Accessories: This phone comes with a lot of useful things for students like me such as a mini planner and unit converter.
Things I HAVE Had Problems With:
Manner-Mode: My mom also has an LG C1300, and for no reason at all, the phone's vibrate-ring just stopped functioning. We think it is because she has dropped it so much, though. I did say this phone is durable, but we have had them for a long time, and a phone can only take so much, ya?
Custimization: The casing of this phone SUCKS! Within five months of owning the phone, the mirror on the front cracked, and also did for other members of my family later on. Also, every time I ask the venders at faceplate booths for my model plates they respond, "We no longer carry LG C1300 because they are too difficult to change." I hate that!
Call In Progress Ear Piece Volume Control: When I am in the middle of a call, I can turn the volume of the ear piece up, but not down. Don't know why. It's not a big deal, but something I thought I'd mention.
In all, I can't say anything worse about this phone. I will be upgrading soon but I have loved this phone, and it has been nothing but good to me!

I have gotten a LG C1300 with Cingular's Pay As You Go plan. I had gotten it after I had a Motorola 120t and a Nokia 2260, both of which were on the same plan as the LG. This phone is horrible. I hate it. I've had it for over a year now and it, at first, was an amazing phone, seeing as that it was my first phone with color screen and superphonic (real music) ringtones. After a couple of months, the phone had started to not work properly. The keypad would, frequently, lock up, the ringtone at level 5 (highest setting) does not produce a sound loud enough, unless the phone is open, and the SIM card would usually stop working. Also, Cingular's signal was horrible with this phone. That problem may be caused because the phone was activated when Cingular had a merger with AT&T Wireless and the other ones weren't. Usually, I could never get the internet on this phone to work, either. I truly hate this phone and I have switched to a Motorola RAZR V3m with Verizon Wireless. My new phone has satisfied my needs for a replacement for this piece of crap.

This phone wasn't too bad. Ring tones were okish... Nothing really special... I've seen a lot of other people carrying around this phone. Which i didn't like at all. (I like to stand out more then blend in) The front of the phone is this huge mirror. And as a boy, I've found no use for it.... In my opinion, they should have put in a front screen or something. The phone wasn't very compacted with features. All in all... the phone isn't really bad at all. I give it a 7.9/10 If you just simply want a phone, i would suggest this phone.
Pros: Battery lasts for awhile, Charges pretty fast, vibration is SIIIILENT, small sleek little phone, good signal
Cons: Not many features like camera or speaker phone, huge mirror in front , not many ring tones at all, probably about 7.
