LG Chocolate 3 User Reviews

My sister has been a fan of the LG Chocolate ever since the days of the "Candyman" commercial featuring Christina Aguilera but as we all know the first one was abyssmal. The touch keys were impossible to work with and the battery life was horrible. They came out with the Chocolate 2 which addressed many of the initial problems with the first Chocolate but still left us wanting more. My sister purchased the Chocolate 3 over the weekend and after messing with it for a few hours, I think they finally got it right!

The first obvious difference is that the form factor has changed from a slider to a clamshell. The front of the phone has a shiny surface similar to that of the LG DECOY. We see a 2MP camera up top, a very large color screen in the center and underneath it a wheel. Pressing the front button on this wheel brings up a menu system similar to the Front Row menu on Apple Computers. From here you can view the calendar, check your Inbox, activate the music player, view pictures, and activate the camera all before you even open the phone. There is a lock button on the right side of the phone that protects accidental activation of this wheel.

Opening the phone reveals a bright 240x320 262K color screen. Underneath the screen we have a spacious keypad perfect for texting or controlling games, no matter how large your fingers are. There's a raised border that separates the number keys from the navigation key. There's nothing worse than accidentally hitting the CLR key while in the middle of a game! On the phone's left side you'll find the volume keys, microphone key, USB charging port, and of course, the 3.5mm headset jack. The right side of the phone holds the lock key, dedicated music key, and microSD slot.

This phone has plenty of volume and excellent audio quality. The ringtones are loud and music sounds great through earphones but just OK through the speakerphone. What's neat about this phone is that when the flip is closed, the front screen displays a Visualizer screen similar to Windows Media Player's. This phone also has an FM transmitter so you can play it through your car speakers or a radio at home. I tried this and it sounded great through my Bose radio.

Download speeds are extremely fast on this phone. I was able to download a few games in a matter of minutes with no lagging at all. Call quality was excellent with plenty of volume and voices sounded natural. The camera is decent, but lacks a flash and mirror.

I like it and would definitely recommend it!

Straight talk is a great phone plan and can save you a bundle of money each month. For just $45 a month you can get unlimited calling and texting which could save you $2000 a month over a 2 year contract. Plus straight talk is on the verizon network so the service is great!
