LG CU400

First, the bad things:
1. The awful sound it makes on startup and shutdown. I don't need a jet engine sound, a simple beep would suffice.
2. I use Opera Mini. Alot. I wish I didn't have to go to page 3 for brackets to markup.
3. Battery time. Wish they could have made it last longer than ten hours. Thats ten hours on Mini.
Thats the bad. Other than the above, this unit blows my 6030b out of the water! The sound quality is decent, I can d/l mp3s and videos, and I have a camera! Ok, the camera doesn't have a flash, its decent for daylight shots. I don't use bluetooth, so I can't comment on that. All in all a good phone, for me at least.

Great overall phone
Reviewer: missrachel2930 on Tue Jan 23, 2007
I have very few complaints about this phone. I have read in other places users are complaining about the quality of the pictures it takes. I have taken a handful of pictures with it so far and all have been great quality. My few complaints are pretty minor. On every other phone I've ever had, I could turn my phone ringer to silent, but the alarm clock would still go off and be audible. On this one, if I turn the ringer to silent, the alarm is silent as well. This seems to be poor design by LG as I don't want to receive phone calls in the middle of the night, but I still want my alarm to go off. The way to fix this is to turn the phone to flight mode instead of silent and the alarm will go off and be audible. The only drawback is when you bring the phone out of flight mode, the headset must be restarted. Also, the front display eventually goes to black and you either have to push one of the side buttons or open the phone to see what time it is and if you have any new messages. I hear it would drain the battery if the front display stayed on, but I had two flip phones before this one and both kept the front display on at all times and I never had battery problems with them in that respect. Also, on my last phone, when I would receive a text message from a contact, it would be the same as the ringtone I had selected for them. I haven't found a way to do that with this phone yet. But, in my opinion, this is an excellent phone and is well worth trying out.

Disable LG CU400 startup and shutdown sound
Reviewer: marcus on Mon Oct 08, 2007
To disable LG CU400 startup and shutdown sound simply press the star key to activate vibrate mode before turning the power off. When the power is turned on, there's no sound. If you prefer hearing ringtones, press the star key to turn off vibrate mode and activate ringtones until you are ready to turn it off again and repeat the above steps.
The best method I've found to transfer files to and from the phone is via bluetooth. I paid about $40 U.S. for a Kinsington Bluetooth USB dongle that comes with software CD. Moving photos and ringtones with bluetooth to a PC and other bluetooth enabled devices is so easy.
It surprised me that tech support and even several sales people in cingular stores were unable to provide either of the above solutions.
Hope this helps,
Marcus

How to transfer pictures to a PC
Reviewer: Foxie on Sat Aug 04, 2007
I recently bought two new LG CU400 cell phones. I dislike the awful opening and closing sounds and moreso, that there is no way to disable the sound. The overall quality and design of this phone is very nice and the built-in camera is quite a nice feature. My problem is that LG does not offer software to be able to transfer the JPG pictures with a USB cable, to a PC. I've called both LG and AT&T and nobody seems to now how to transfer the pictures to a PC. Does anybody know how to transfer JPG pictures to a PC from the phone? I have the USB cable. Since AT&T took over Cingular, the service is absolutely awful! All they want to do is sell me the internet email service, which I do not want! Nobody seems to care; after 6 calls and about 10 hours on the phone, they couldn't help me.
