About a year ago we purchased a family plan with Cingular and all three of us got LG L1200s. First off, LG makes a model called the 1200, so that is confusing in itself.
The phones were neat when we got them, and we had few problems for the first 6 months....
Then what happened is what I read in most reviews on the internet of this phone. More dropped calls, calls that go straight to voicemail, etc.
The customer support at Cingular was ripe with suggestions - turning the phone on and off, *buying* a replacement battery ($70...battery is not covered by the 1-year warranty).
I got my phone replaced with another LG1200 (per the terms of the warranty). The new phone's external lighting went out within 2 weeks. Since the replacement phone does NOT come with a new warranty, the warranty soon expired. Now we are all stuck with phones that had terrible battery life (must be charged everyday), frequent dropped calls, and almost half (no exaggeration) of all calls go STRAIGHT to voicemail. Heck I'll give you our numbers and you can see for yourself.
My phone, in addition to these problems, would freeze up often (once it actually deleted all pictures, phone numbers, ring tones, etc). But Cingular does not offer discounts until 18 months into a 24-month contract. So we are stuck in a dead period where all we can do is put up with our crappy cell phones, or buy another at full price. (Or break contract...over $500).
If you need a new cell phone, DO NOT GET THE LG L1200. It is a constant headache.

First off when i first got this phone it worked wonderfully i had a Nokia 6010 which... well... worked. I lost that phone and had to use my old Samsung R225m which was terrible.
Pros-
I love the phone book system, storing 3 numbers per person is awesome, and assigning photos to contacts is easy, (but you have to use the super small image size) it works well and i have a ton of numbers.
Cons-
After several months of use however i noticed that i would get missed calls in my call log but i wouldn't hear the phone ring. Now at first i thought that it was just my imagination. Then i would start getting voice mails but no missed calls in my log. I thought "hey maybe i wasn't getting any reception" (my school is in a skechy service area for every carrier t-mobile included) But then it started happening more and more often so i decided to test it out. I was in the same room as two of my friends and we all had full barsand they both called me, but my phone didn't ring, and i got no missed calls in my log.
Also the battery life is medicore. The longest i got this phone to run was 2.5 days without recharging. I had to turnoff the light for both lcd screens and i used it as little as possible (read: 3-4 calls a day and 2-3 txts) with the lights on it lasts no more than 1.5 days which isn't bad you just need to charge it every night.
So in short if you like to receive calls don't get this phone. Otherwise it's great.

The LG L1200 was my very first phone. I researched high and low for "good" phones from Cingular (around August 2004) and this seemed like it would be my best choice and, thus, a wise investment.
At first glance, it's a bit longer than I would like but is still a good size. It's got a solid feel to it with a keypad that has large enough buttons to find the one you want in the dark. It has a super bright crisp display with wonderful colors that will practically blind you at night. Everything is simple to get to and very straight forward. The simplicity of the phone allowed easy navigation. The camera is quite good except for in low light which isn't a suprise. One game (SpaceBall) is all it has but that doesn't exactly bother me since I'm not going to cry if I can't play a game on my phone. I really like the phonebook since it's organized in a simple manner since you can assign 3 numbers and an e-mail address per person.
Performance-wise...I wish the volume of the calls were louder. Don't even think about being to hear if you're on the phone in the car with the radio at a reasonable volume. You have to angle the phone just right in order to hear. It's funny though, the ringer volume will knock your socks off on the loudest volume. At first, I didn't have problems with receiving calls but a few months after getting it I did. Even after turning it on/off two times a day I still wouldn't receive all of my calls and I live in a high service area (San Antonio, TX). I sent that one back in hopes of the replacement working better but that one turned out to be 10x worse. I rarely received calls from friends. It always cut straight to my voicemail for them. So now I'm on Replacement #3 with the display colors on the inside being off (everything has an odd blue-ish tinge to it) and the outside display doesn't work. It just glows. However, I do get my calls.
Overall, I loved this phone from the beginning, but after my software on my phone started to fail and do other quirky things not stated above, I realized that maybe I should get something else. It's simple, it had potential for a while, but dang, this thing went downhill for me too quickly

Warning!!! Dont buy this phone. I've had many phones and this is by far the worst phone ive ever used or seen. I will never buy another LG because of this phone and the poor lg warrenty. I had this phone for about 4 months before it began to fall apart from the inside. The front lcd screen broke after the first month i had it because it is very weak, i had it in my pocket and bumped into a wall, once i took my phone out i noticed the screen was cracked in about 4 places. about 2 months later for no reason at all( i take care of my phones and this one never once touched water) the insdie screen started to malfunction and the screen became blurry and slanted. i had to deal with this for a few weeks before i turned off my phone in hopes to see it fixed, but when i tured it back on to my utter disbelief the screen was not only slanted but inside out. so where it says cingular on the phone it now reads as if you were reading your shirt in a mirror or on the other side of a car window. I had enough and i still had the factory warrenty, so i sent it in and about a month in a half later i get it back not fixed and the only thing they said was corrosive damage. This phone has nothing that resembles corrosive damage its very clean just your normal table marks on the back. I also miss calls all the time and get mroe droped calls as time goes bye. So this phone is a lemon do not buy it, I will never be a lg customer again and i hope others learn from this and stay away from lg( Lucky Goldstar) for those that dont know what Lg stands for. I guess i wasent one of the lucky ones.
