The VI-125 is small, has no pointy antenna sticking out and has a speaker phone. Those features definately sold me.
When I got the phone, I noticed that you can record sounds with the phone and make them distinctive rings for certain phone numbers. For example, I hear a recording of my girlfriend saying "pick up the phone." as a ring when she calls. Pretty cool.
First problem: sometimes alarms fail. There's a nice feature of setting an alarm for an appointment. It makes a good wake-up alarm when on the road or camping. However, sometimes the alarm will not work. I had a recurring alarm once a week around noon and suddenly it stopped working. It didn't get deleted and everything looked okay, but the alarm suddenly stopped working. This happened for about three different alarms that I set.
Second problem: difficult to unsnooze an alarm. In order to turn off an alarm without it "snoozing", you must open the flip and press a certain button. There are buttons at the side of the phone. If the side buttons are pressed before the alarm is stopped, the alarm will snooze and will sound again in five minutes. Unfortunately, there's no way to turn off the snooze, so if the snooze buttons were touched just before a meeting, guess what? You annoy all with a jingle during the meeting and each time you try to turn it off and accidently bump the buttons on the side, it resets itself for five minutes!!!
Third problem: battery life. There's something wrong with the calibration of the battery indicator. When on the phone, it starts beeping and interrupting the conversation warning me that my battery is dying. Then, when the conversation is over, the battery will show at least one full bar and will stay that way for the rest of the day.
Final problem: reception. The reception often claims to be two bars before the call, but as soon as the person on the other end picks up the phone, the call drops. This "feature" not only annoys me but also the person I am calling. If I'm lucky enough to get a hold of someone, then the phone will drop the call at some random part of the conversation about half the time. This is not good when talking to clients.
Overall, this phone is nothing but a children's toy. It has some cool features, when they work, but it's not dependable enough to use as a phone. I've owned cell phones for about 7 years. This phone is the worst I've owned. I'd gladly trade for a bulkier phone that actually works.
