I got the A1000 in Italy on the 3 network. This is a 3G phone for video calls but it is also a PDA. 99 euro and 9 euro a month tariff. I had it unlocked to use in the US on the 2G networks there. It worked fine in the US and I could receive my email there although changing to the other provder ATT, required some effort. The phone allows you to change internet provider but it is not intuitive.
It has a tremendous amount of memory son a transflash card so you can store your MP3 library on it.
It has a 1 million pixel camera so it can take pretty good photos. Video calls are a novelty and I have used this feature rarely.
It has GPS integrated and I bought a nav program which I have used in a number of cities, works great when you are lost.
This is the only Motorola phone I've had that has a decent battery life, it is a big battery.
But, it has one failing. It will not work with my 2005 BMW 545i's bluetooth. the car I have in the US.
So I bought a cheap phone from Cingular, a Motorola V551 for use in my car.
Unless you have a BMW with Bluetooth, this is the best 3G phone PDA available. It was recognised as such recently in some award ceremony for phones.
