Well this is my first motorola phone, i've always been fan of nokia phones, my last phone Nokia 3220, was really good, in every aspect except communication, memory, and speakerphone...
Well at first I wasn't sure to buy this motorola, since not much people had it, I have no idea about how good it is... so here is my review about it...
Pros:
- Good 65k Display, STN Technology...well is not as good as TFT 65k of 3220, but it display very well the images, but fades so much in the sun... anyway, the only time I use it outside is just when I took pictures, but that's all. The display is a little short in resolution 128x128 and a little small in size, but is okay. If u want a better display then just go for a more expensive phone.
- Camera: it's really good at least mine, it take good pictures, better than nokia 3220 (which shows some green color in the cornes!!), it's night mode it's somehow useful, and it's option like lighting exposure(+2 +1 0 -1 -2), and lighting conditions(automatic, night, sunny, cloudy, indoors (home), indoors(office)) REALLY! changes the pictures look.
- Mp3 Tones and Polyphonic Tones: they sound pretty clear and good, I have no problem with them, and can be heard even if it is in ur pocket, what I really hate, is that it begins a little low in volume after 2 seconds it increase to it's maximum volume. It also has a disco ligths, that came with 8 modes of pattern lights.
- Speakerphone and Earpiece: Both of them sounds pretty loud, I've no problems in noisy environments gotta say everythins is loud an clear, and they can hear me also crisp...
- Reception: it's pretty good i've always got full bar of reception, but I think this dependes the country and co. which is providing the service.. mine is Movistar from Panama.
Other features. the phone came with themes, and mtv contents which are not good at all, and are locked, theres a method to erase them, but i won't say it here, if u want to know it, just mail me... cdelgado_r86@hotmail.com and also has a video menu to look video but can't record
- Batter life: well if u use the camera and hear the tones, ur cellphone will just last 1 day o 2 maybe!, but if u let it rest it will last 4 days, at first I didin't charge the cellphone, the shop where I buy it told me to charge it for 12 hrs, but I keep it using withouth recharging it, and then recharge for 2hrs, and keep using it , and charge 2 hrs more, and the battery well it didn't work well, so I buy another one, and do everything exactly and it works fine, now.
Cons:
- Low memory, mine just came with 2239kb that is 2.20mb and free memory just 1.8mb but since i've erase the contents, somehow don't know why the cellphone get 3015kb of memory, and free 2.9mb...
- The keypad, at least for me it sucks, because I have normal fingers but ajajja the keys are too close, and small for me, THE KEYPAD REALLY IS AVERAGE, it depends on ur fingers, but it's not confortable for me. But the josticks really sucks, friends of mine, including me, has problemas moving around the menu the jostick sometimes make bad moves...
- Oh yeah that logo operator and date can't be removed they really sucks! sometimes some wallpapers can't be really appreciate because of them, the only option is to move these elements to the center or to the left of the screen and nothing more.
- Vibration: It sucks, i can feel it neither in my tight pants hahahah, and it also just vibrate first and after 4 sec. the ringtone sounds, I hate that, from motorola, it seems to happen that in all their phones.
- Games: their not good at all it came with 2 games, one demos of the cellphone itself, and photo fun pack, To upload games u have to charge the app loader, that sucks! but it has a nice capacity to play games, with good sounds!!!, but they somehow get slow,(but i don't even use the cellphone to play)
Well to finish the review it bring another features like screensavers, themes, alarm clock, useful calendar, etc etc... there's another feature but i really don't know if it's a plus or minus to the cellphone...but i'm gonna count it like a plus for me...and it's comunication
- Comunication: well u can just download ringtones, videost hemes, etc to ur cellphone, using 1. MINI-USB CABLE, 2. WAP - GPRS
I use the first method, since I use prepaid, and wap gprs is just accesible by contract. So it's good in the first method because, the cable can be find in any shop at 5$ - 10$ dollars, even my cable came with my digital camera, it's a simple cable mini usb from one side, and the other side its a usb to connect it to the pc.
For some people comunication data sucks, because it doesn't bring IRDA nor Bluetooth, but i don't really care because, i've not irda in my pc, neither have a laptop, and also here in panama not so many people use this technology, so for me it's bluetooth and irda is useless jejeje.

I don't know if I should be madder at Motorola or T-MOBILE. The C650 has a USB jack on it. You should be able to connect it to your computer, the driver necessary to make this work should be FREE and included with the phone, but it is not. It is TOTALLY STUPID to be forced to mail photos to yourself, incurring additional fees from T-MOBILE. If you have a USB jack on a phone, you should be able to use it to move data between the phone and a computer however you want, and you shouldn't need to pay extra for the simple driver.

I agree with the majority of you. I am appalled that Motorola would even consider charging $30.00 for software that should be included with the phone. In this day and age, that's ridiculous, especially considering that most of the other phone manufacturers let you download their program for free. I am also getting very poor reception in most buildings. If I go more than a few feet from a wall, the signal drops off completely. I am currnetly thinking about switching back over to a Nokia phone. At least I never had a problem with reception with my old Nokia.

Whoever made this phone should be shot. Actually, whoever let this phone into the consumer market and whoever advocates the sale of this phone should also be shot. My experience with nokia phones has been great. I wanted a Nokia phone like my last one, but the insurance company replaced it with this Motorola... Which I knew was going to bite me... Now I'm here on a C650 forum taking my time to say Stay away from Motorola. So, If you're like me, you got here looking for a free driver for the usb connection... Which is unavailable.. I'm Demanding a new NOKIA phone from TMOBILE.

Motorola C650 is a good phone if you dont really care about mobiles. It has some good features like less weight, small in size, large TFT screen etc.. But the color quality of inbuilt camera is not good, altough the clarity is good. It supports 4X zoom with different colour patterns.
This phone doesn't support Bluetooth and Infrared. The software and USB cable is supplied free of cost with headset if you buy it independently.
The software is easy to install and understand.
The battery takes a long time to recharge(upto 6 hours for full recharge),
The memory space is comparatively less(1.7 Mb). The phonebook memory is also low(maynot reach 1000). The five way navigation key is also sometimes difficult to use. The cover is hard to remove if you want to change the sim card or replace battery. Every night you have to recharge it you u used it even for 2 hours in a day.
Overall, this phone is not meant for heavy users.

the motorola c650 is a average phone.
on the pro side it comes witha variety of features including mp3 capabilty, video n the like
on the con side it has a very very low memory...1.5mb tats too less for a camera phone....
now comeon Motorola, even ordinary non-camera phones have a greater memory than that!
the pics look pretty nest when transferred to a PC provided taken in 640 x 480 pixels.....
the software supplied with the phone synches perfectly with my Windows Xp !!!!
the battery is too short lived...i have to recharge it every night.....
the 5 way joystick is a bit too clumsy..yuck!!!!
i ll give the phone 4.5/10 ratings!!!!

okay.. well i got this phone last weekend and i LOVE it. i like the appearance of the phone, cute and small (and its not TOO small, either). i like how the camera takes pictures real fast. other cameras will take a few seconds or so to take the picture, and that gets irritating. the camera picture quality isn't very clear though but it's manageable. when you first get the phone while its new, the battery life lasts pretty long. so i haven't had much of a problem with that yet. you also get to edit the pictures you took with the camera with cute lil clip art, which is pretty cool. pretty much, the only thing i dont like at all about the phone is the 5-way joystick. i think it would be better if it just had a 4-way joystick phone because when you first get the phone, the joystick is pretty stiff still and when you don't move the joystick to the left correctly, it presses down the joystick and selects whatever you have highlighted. it's VERY annoying. but overall, i think this is a cool/good phone. oh yea, and reception isn't very good either. it's not BAD. just not satisfying. but like i said, OVERALL, i like it. i would like to recommend it to people who are camera freaks

I bought this unlocked on e-bay to use with cingular gsm service. T-mobile messed with the internet specs, and there is no way you can change the settings....so the internet is useless even if the phone is unlocked.
Pros:
- cute, small, trendy, good screen image
- okay battery life
Cons:
- buttons press easily when stored in purse or pocket
- ringer and speaker not very loud and can be fuzzy
- very poor reception (when compared to other phones with same service
- buttons too small for fingers
- poor quality pictures
- joystick hurts your finger after a while
The dealbreaker was the reception. I tried to use this phone for 3 weeks, because i liked some things about it - but it was consistently 3-4 bars below my husbands motorola T721. Waste of money and has made me consider using another manufacturer.

This phone is loaded with features, but fails to do well the one thing it is made for - clear phone calls! Reception becomes extremely poor inside of buildings where reception is otherwise good to excellent. I have never seen such a sharp contrast of reception quality. I have compared with friends (of same service) and their phones always indicate better reception...

My last phone was a Nokia 6610 (prior to that a Motorola v60...great phone except the antenna broke twice), service with T-Mobile.
I dropped and broke the Nokia (T-Mobile wanted $70 to look at it to see if it could be repaired) so I paid $150 for a Motorola C650.
My peeves:
1) I paid $30.00 for software to hook it up to my laptop (software was free with Nokia and I used my infrared port to communicate).
2) I used a USB cable that I have for my digital camera to communicate between the C650 and my laptop, the connection was getting errors and dropping communication. I called Motorola and they told me that I need to use a priority USB cable and they want $50,00 for it! I told them to shag off and I am now in the process of getting a refund on the $30.00 I wasted on the software.
3) I am a pretty heavy user (average of about 160mins a day talk time (for work). The battery life on this phone is NOT 6 hours talk time; I have to recharge the battery every night.
4) The battery recharge time takes hours (4 or 5 hours), I do not think that this is normal; I am going to address this with Motorola.
5) Every time I speak with Motorola I am on hold at least 10 minutes before I get a "live" person.
To sum it up I am really pissed, I think I am going to have my Nokia repaired and give this phone back to T-Mobile.
STAY AWAY FROM THE C650!

Well, got this phone for my 13 year old son as a freebie through Wirefly, so I guess I can't complain too harshly. I mean the kid was able to hack TZones and download WAP porn into his TMobile Picture Gallery so it's got to be somewhat advanced. But I would have to agree with the majority of complaints listed by other users in this forum. If I had paid hard cash and purchased this phone for myself I would be just as livid as many of you are. Charging $30 for the software to access your phone's basic features is absolutely outrageous, especially considering how incredibly basic the software package is. I have a friend who happened to have this same phone and had purchased the software package legally so I used his computer and tried to connect the two. I also experienced major connection issues, but it has recently dawned on my that you really just need a USB2 compliant cable in order to get the proper results. The garbage they package with the average MP3 player is definately not suitable for using your cellular phone as a modem.
In summary, I have been a real Motorola fan for many years, all the way back to the big ol 3 watt bag phones. Never liked Nokia or their silly, "non-business" extras. But after owned a 6600 and using this C650 I must say that the mighty have truly fallen. It is a sad day for "american ingenuity" when the company that many might argue practically invented mainstream cellular in the US is reduced to screwing their customers over with expensive "extras" that are essential and shoddy accessories that don't do the job correctly. Well guess I am just gonna have to get used to taking pictures and video with my silly nokia phones.
BabaBOhai on you.

If users want simple, cheap and best, with better featues, can prefer this phone. I am using this phone for few months, I am not that satisfied, but it is ok to use.
Pros:
. simple, good looking, nice shape
. GPRS
. internet
Cons:
. Need to charge for long time ( approx 6 hours)
. May be it is a bug. After few days, even if i want to end the incoming call, I cant. I must open the open the frame, remove the battery and again to restart. It happend two times in 4 months of my usage.
. Camera resolution is not good.

I cannot recommend this phone nor any Motorola product. I have just purchased a Motorola C650 from T-Mobile. Unfortunately neither Motorola nor T-Mobile advised that the charger furnished with the phone was 110 volts only and not dual voltage, incomprehensible with a tri-band phone meant for use abroad. Obviously, the charger was fried when recharging in Europe the first time. Neither Motorola nor T-Mobile are willing to do anything as they indicate this was misuse on my part. (How does one use a triband phone if it cannot be recharged in the country of use?) I seriously question the integrity of any company that would sell a product in this manner without advising of this limitation in advance.

Like some other poster here, I bought the C650 GSM phone from Motorola. Big mistake. Not only do the keys stick, the Java is incredibly slow and the phone runs out of battery in record time, its charger is 110V only ! What madness to supply a "international" phone with a single voltage charger. I fried the charger in Europe and of course, in Europe one gets only Nokia spare chargers or parts.
I mailed Motorola and got an answer saying that there is no charger for the C650 that is multivoltage. "sorry for the inconvinience" yeah right.
Amazing. My time with Motorola and T-mobile has come to an end, I guess.

i purchashed this phone off of the internet. I wasn't sure quite how to set it up so i put the back on without putting the sim card on the battery. Before i got this phone it said that the covers were easy snap on snap off. yeah right!! It took my so long to pry that thing off. i must have tried for at least 2 hours. in the process i dented and scraped the back cover. Finally i took it into radioshack and it took 3 people and two screwdrivers before it finally "popped" off. Then come to find out the phone isn't activated. I spent the whole rest of the day talking to several different representitives before it was activated. apparently there was a problem with my adress. The phone itself looks good and it's really small. it also has quite a bit of cool ringtones. Everyone complains about the service, but it's good, not great, but good. i usually have 5-4 bars most of the time. The only disappoinment was the camera. The pictures aren't clear and not up to my expectations. There so light and not very colorfull, and they look really grainie. so if your looking for a camera phone i wouldn't suggest this one. I think it's pretty loud and the speakers good.

I was surprised by the scathing reviews the c650 got on this forum. I've been using the Motorola phone (with T-Mobile) for several months and have been very happy with it, including its ability to sync up with my computer.
I have a Macintosh computer and I didn't need to download anything in order to sync because the Mac OS has software to do this packaged with the operating system. I already had a USB cord from my digital camera, so I didn't need to buy anything either. Using iSync, everything from my phone downloads to my computer in a matter of minutes, no problems.
I'd venture to say that the problem is Microsoft related, not Motorola or T-Mobile related. There are a ZILLION different kinds of PC computers out there and it's almost impossible to develop software that is compatible with all the firewalls and other stuff built into an incredibally propriatory operating system.
That's my opinion, for what it's worth.
