Motorola L6 Pink initial review
Reviewer: speedrender93 on Tue Nov 21, 2006
I just received a pink L6 yesterday from Tigerdirect. I broke the seal and started unwrapping it. First impression was it was bigger than I thought, which is better for me. I've had two V600 phones for my family for the last few years and really like them. This one was going to replace one for my wife. She doesn't use a headset, so not having a headset jack isn't that big of a deal. It has bluetooth if I want to use my headset instead.
We were concerned about the face getting scratched, so I'm in the process of looking for screen protectors now. No doubt my wife will scratch it up in her purse if I don't cover the screen.
The speaker has the ability to be really loud, and when I switched to speaker phone, the party on the other line said the quality of our communication was still very good.
The buttons on the front are very small. I'm a big guy at 6'01" 200lbs, so my fingers had a little difficulty typing on the keyboard, but women shouldn't have that much of a problem. I also found myself trying to turn up the volume on the side of the phone, but Motorola seemed to move the volume controls to the front of the phone. That's somewhat of a problem if you're in a call and want to change the volume, you would have to take the phone away from your face to push the buttons.
Currently the phone resides in my front shirt pocket where it fits very nicely, I'm waiting to see what styles of cases will be available for this model. The L7 has been out for a bit, so accessories are available but I just haven't been shopping for them yet.
Very solid phone at a good price ($119 unlocked phone from Tiger direct.) One of my first phones was a Nokia 6160, then I moved on to a pair of Motorola v600s. I'm glad I was loyal to Motorola and purchased this one. There might be better phones from others, but this was a decision that I didn't want to put a lot of research into.
