Razr V3xx...perfect

Reviewer: tommy on Sat Aug 25, 2007

I have had this phone since April, and, aside from the problem with my first one not storing pictures, I haven't had a problem icon_biggrin.gif

The one that I have now, I haven't had a problem with it. The only thing that I don't like, however, is the lack of wallpapers and I can't figure out how to operate the screensavers. Other than that, not a problem. I love it. icon_wub.gif icon_wub.gif

Motorola RAZR V3xx

Reviewer: bullerben on Wed Feb 07, 2007

I totally disagree with most of the comments above. I live in Northern California, got this phone a few days ago. I have owned the v3, and the v3x. Killed my v3 on accident. And I loved the v3x but got a pda in what I thought would be more ideal for me. I was wrong.

So I had a upgrade for cingular coming and I saw the v3xx advertised at 129.99 with a 50 mail-in-rebate. So I went ahead and bought it online through Cingular.

Phone came fast, 2 days. Heres what I saw with it:

Pros: MANY PROs with this phone

1. Best of all - IT RUNS x1000 times better than old razrs. Maybe its the 3g technology or whatever but this thing doesnt freeze or hold on screens. It runs extremely well.

2. The phone pad is great. They used a material that shows white during the day (like as the light) and blue at night. And the actual feel of the mousepad is more rigid, not flat, but I find it MUCH better icon_biggrin.gif

3. I don't know what phone they got but the handset volume is great. I can actually hear other people on this phone, which gets great bars.

4. The phone doesnt really look bigger. It may be slightly wider but I really cant tell the difference.

5. The built in speaker sounds like a home entertainment center. Its great quality and I highly recommend you hear the output of one. I think its great. No need to mod this phone, the audio outputs are great.

6. It overall to me is a great phone. Still need to buy a transflash (microsd) card. Heard it can hold any size one, going for the 2gb one.

Cons:

-One of the only things I can say that I hate is probably that voice dial. I dont really use it but I tried to set it up and just using it is a pain. icon_huh.gif

-Also, all the cingular buttons and links can be overwhelming when your looking for something specific. icon_surprised.gif

Overall, I would give this phone a 9 out of 10. Its really a great phone. I hope some other people post with similiar experiences because I found this phone to be quite good. Once I get the transflash loaded. I am customizing it with unique ringers for my friends.

And heck, just buy the phone and try it for a few days and take it back, but I love it. icon_biggrin.gif

The shock of my life: The Motorola RAZR V3xx

Reviewer: Skyline on Mon Jun 25, 2007

This phone caught me by surprise. I used to be a person who despised the whole RAZR line, but after my SYNC broke (and my SD memory card was lodged in it permanently), I wanted a new phone and the Cingular (now AT&T) store was out of stock of LG CU500s. So, I went with the RAZR V3xx. Seeing that it was a 3G HSDPA phone, I thought that it could be a really good phone, not just a little fashion accessory (by the way, I did not get my phone for the style). It surprised me when I realized that its HSDPA was twice as fast as my SYNCs. But, when using the Opera Mini browser (both version 3.1 and version 4 beta), it asks you for permission. It's not a big deal, because it does that because Opera Mini does not have a security certificate. It's like the cellular equivalent of Windows Vista. A friend of mine has a V3 with the same service, and I noticed that the user interface was alot different. I used to have a RAZR V3m (the root of my former RAZR hatred), but it had many problems, too many to count to be exact. I love this phone, as opposed to the V3m, which really is a disappointment. I think that the problem was that that phone was under Verizon, a mistake I will never make again. The V3xx is very intuitive, and I like how it has many next-generation features, like A2DP and AVRCP. I also think this phone has GAVDP, but I really haven't tried it yet. This phone syncs smoothly to my laptop (which I use my phone as a modem for), my headsets (a Sony Ericsson AVRCP stereo headset and a Nokia AVRCP stereo headset), and my Sony Ericsson MBW-100 Bluetooth Watch. My phone is faster than my DSL at home, and I'm thinking about just using my phone as a modem and cancelling my DSL account. This phone is tri-band (850/ 1800/ 1900, as opposed to the 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 listed above, an admin needs to update that), but it has better reception than my mom's Sony Ericsson Z520a, which is quad-band by the way. There are too many good things with this phone, too many to count to be exact. I would strongly recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for an affordable and extremely fast 3G phone.

Worth The Money

Reviewer: tommy on Sun Apr 29, 2007

I have had this phone for three days and I love it. icon_biggrin.gif
The RAZR V3xx was a replacement handset for the Samsung d807, which kept freezing on me at random times. icon_blink.gif
This phone (while I got it for free) is definantly worth the money for a new two year contract or upgrade. It is a lot faster than my parent's V3. I also like this phone because it is thicker than the V3. There are also more advanced features than the V3. I really like the mp3 player also. I LOVE this phone icon_wub.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Skepticism be damned... This is a great phone!

Reviewer: erotiki_ormi on Sat Feb 24, 2007

Ever since the RAZR series of phones hit the scene with their almost provocative campaigns and emphasis on sleek designs and colors, I had the same reaction that I had to the Hummer: All hype, no substance! However, unlike the Hummer, it seems that Motorola has released a RAZR that delivers!

The Pros:
1. MP3 player (a plus on any phone)
2. Decent Camera
3. The best signal quality I've ever gotten with any phone.
4. Impressive battery life.
5. microSD memory AND integrated 60 MB.
6. With the right software, you can make your own ringtones.
7. This is a VERY good looking phone.

The Cons:
1. The small outside screen has poor backlighting. This can put you off for maybe the first 2 minutes, but it's very easy to get used to.
2. Does NOT come packaged with USB cord or ear buds. I had a USB cord from my Creative ZEN mp3 player that works perfectly. As for the ear buds, they are relatively inexpensive, so this is just a minor setback.
3. If you've never used a RAZR before, it'll take some getting used to. I'm coming from a Nokia 6102 and the format is much different. This isn't so much a con as it is a caution: Don't expect to just jump right and know what your doing unless you're used to this type of phone.

Overall, I'd reccomend this phone to anyone. It only cost me $50 on an upgrade, which was only $20 more than the regular V3's were, so especially if you're looking at RAZR's, pay the extra few bucks and GET THIS PHONE!

Motorola RAZR V3xx

Reviewer: weedeater on Thu Feb 01, 2007

Just received the phone the other day. some quick points:

1. the screen is a great upgrade from my other V3.
2. So is the camera.
3. the V3x is not the same size as the V3. It is slightly larger. Hence, if you have a case for your old V3, it probably won't fit. My old Motorola case was too small.
4. sound quality is garbled. People sound like they have marbles in their mouths.
5. the voice dialing is different from the old unit. Rather than inputing your own voice labels for contacts, it attempts to match the Name. So if the names are not unique, you will have to change them.
6. build quality seems a bit more flimsy.
7. battery is slightly larger, hence it should last a bit longer.
8. separate settings to control LEDs for battery charge indication and BlueTooth.
9. USB port is upside down from the old model, hence my old battery charger right-angle cable fits backwards. This is a pain in the car.
10. USB port cover will probably break off pretty soon. It gets in the way when connecting the cable.

I may end up trading up to the krzr.

Update 1

I ended up trading for a different phone. The sound quality issue may be something generic to Motorola. I did not hear the same thing using a Samsung phone, the Samsungs were 'brighter'.

Having a different phone, I can say that the menus and such on the V3xx were noticably faster. Java and games loaded and ran quickly. Must be the 3G hardware.

The V3xx keyboard felt like it was made of cellophane. Very crackly when I touched buttons.

Update 2

To revise and extend my remarks.

1. Yes this phone is MUCH FASTER than the old V3 I had before. VERY noticably faster.

2. The screen is beautiful!

3. the camera picture quality is good also.

4. The phone is bigger than the V3 I had. Placing them side by side, the V3xx is taller. The Motorola case I bought with the first V3 was too small for the V3xx and would not close. It is also slightly thicker, allowing a larger battery to be used.

5. The unit I received had a keyboard that must have been bad. When I ran my finger over it I could hear it krinkle. You could also see circuit connections behind it around the edges where it did not fit tightly. This was probably a quality issue with just this unit and not an overall problem with the model itself.

Oh, and the signal sensitivity was better with the V3xx over the old V3.

I have poor coverage at my house and the V3 would routinely receive no signals whereas the V3xx always got 3 bars (of 5).

Overal quality is something that is subjective and you have to judge for yourself. Having gone with the KRZR, I will say that I believe the KRZR unit I got feels more sturdy in my hand. HOWEVER, it is noticibly SLOWER in the menus and Java games, something that the V3xx excels at.

This is an AWESOME phone!

Reviewer: eriksonladwig on Wed Aug 01, 2007

I have had this phone for about two weeks, and I am in love with it! It is great looking, has an awesome camera, has an MP3 player, the internal and external screens are great, always has a great signal, and it runs awesome. I got the Moto RAZR V3xx in replacement of my LG C2000, which I absolutely hated icon_mad.gif , because I fell on it while I was on a mountain bike ride. When I went to the AT&T store, I looked at several different phones including the Samsung Sync, the Samsung A437, the LG Trax and of course, the Moto RAZR V3xx. I was very close to getting the LG Trax, but I decided since I have been through two LG phones, it was time for a change, so I got the Moto RAZR V3xx, and I am so happy I did. icon_biggrin.gif I love everything about this phone. If you are looking for an awesome phone that has a ton of features, looks great, and works great, then I would definetly recommend this phone to them, but I would really recommend this phone to anyone!

I REALLY LIKE MY V3XX!

Reviewer: TONYTJR on Mon Aug 06, 2007

OK I HAVE JUST RECEIVED MY V3XX LIKE 2 WEEKS AGO AND LET ME SAY THAT IT WAS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE I MADE. I FIRST HAD A CU400 PHONE BUT I DIDNT LIKE IT AT ALL. I TRYED TO TRADE IT IN FOR A CU500V BUT I GUESS THOSE ARE DISCONTINUED icon_surprised.gif THE ONLY OTHER CHOICE I HAD WAS THE V3XX. AT FIRST I DIDNT LIKE THE WHOLE RAZR LINE BUT AFTER GETTING MY V3XX I LOVE IT! icon_wink.gif

PROS:
-GREAT SIGNAL! I ALWAZY HAVE AT LEAST 3 BARS
-LOVE THE MP3!. ITS LOUD TOO. AND IT USES A MICRO SD WHICH IS REALLY EASY TO TRANSFER MUSIC FROM A COMPUTER TO YOUR PHONE.
-SPEAKER IS DECENT, COULD BE LOUDER BUT ITS OK.
-CAMERA IS GREAT. I GET CLEAR BEAUTIFUL SHOTS.
-BATTERY LIFE IS GOOD.
-GREAT FEATURES LIKE THE CELLULAR VIDEO. I COULD ALWAYS WATCH MUSIC VIDEOS ON MY PHONE icon_smile.gif
-LOOKS VERY COOL AND PROFESSIONAL
-I LIKE THE FACT THAT I CAN CUSTOMIZE MY RINGTONES.
-BLUETOOTH
-3G
-OVERALL GREAT PHONE.

CONS
-THE ONE THING THAT REALLY SUCKS ABOUT THIS PHONE IS THAT THE EARPIECE IS VERY LOOW IM TRYING TO FIND A WAY WERE I CAN INCREASE THE VOLUME
-VERY FRAGILE
-CANT CLOSE THE PHONE WHEN ON SPEAKER
-I WOULD LIKE IF THE RINGTONES AND VIBRATION WERE LOUDER
-EASY TO GET DIRTY icon_sad.gif

ALRIGHT BUT OVERALL ITS A GREEEEAT! PHONE. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A RAZR PHONE GET THIS ONE!

Nothing But Trouble

Reviewer: cscrab on Sat Aug 11, 2007

I started new service with Cingular with the Motorola v3xx phone.
From day one I had nothing but problems. Everytime the GPRS icon would show on the display.I could not make calls. Tech service had me replace the phone 3 times each being the V3xx.
After over a month of calls to tech support for the same problem, they suggested that I switch the phone out for free for the Samsung Sync, which I did. I've only had the Samsung a few hours but I can already tell that it puts the Motorola to shame.
Stay away from the V3xx until they resolve problems that are so discouraging that you will want to throw the thing in the trash.
I will not even consider a Motorola in the future.
I understand it may be a great product. But my experience with a Motorola was horrible.
Thank you.

d807 freezes at random times

Reviewer: tommy on Wed Apr 25, 2007

I got the Samsung in Nov, and since then I've had two of those phones icon_mad.gif
I returned the two phones because they were freezing all the time. I didn't like the fact that they would have sent me the Nokia 6102i, which is now listed as a free phone. icon_surprised.gif
I also wouldn't recomend going through the customer service, due to the fact that they aren't in sync with their warranty services, icon_biggrin.gif
Hope this was helpful
