Motorola T720i User Reviews |

I bought two of these phones for me and my wife as an impulse buy. We really didn't have any plans of buying a new phone but since our old trusty Samsung SCH-8500 was well... old, we decided to get the phones anyway.
The reception and call quality with the Motorola T720i was excellent. I only experienced one dropped call, at a location with a lot of electronic interference so it was understandable. My previous provider was Sprint. Let's just say it was rare to NOT have a dropped call with them. I am very happy with my call quality and clarity with T-Mobile.
I found the phone's interface to be very intuitive (contrary to what some reviewers think). If you are familiar with using Windows on your PC, you will probably feel fairly comfortable navigating through the phone settings. In the least, the setup is unique! Personalization possibilities are limitless with this phone. You can switch around the menu and soft keys to fit your most often used buttons. Additionally, I did not experience a delay when flipping between settings, as some reviewers had.
This phone has a detachable camera, which is a fun feature. The picture quality on the phone screen is not top-notch, but you can email the picture to get a slightly better image.
Another great feature with the Motorola T720i is the voice-recognition dialing system. This is a very handy feature to use while driving. Also, the buttons are slightly raised off the phone, with a space in between each key, making it easier to differentiate which numbers you are hitting.
I did find a few drawbacks with the Motorola T720i. Depending on the light conditions, the screen may be difficult to read. Additionally, the phonebook system was tedious in that only one number can be assigned to each entry.
A quick way around this issue is to enter names and phone numbers online at T-Mobile, under the “My Account” section. You can upload names and numbers to your phone 10 at a time.
Also, the phone did not have an alarm feature, and the ringer was extremely quiet (even on the loud setting). A few times I did not hear my phone ring while I was in my car with the radio on. Additionally, I thought the blinking light indicator on the outside of the phone would alert me if I had a voice mail. Instead, it blinks when the phone has service.
Overall, I did like this phone, despite its drawbacks. If it were a World Phone, I would have kept it. I would recommend this phone, if you want a free phone with some really nifty tricks, and do not plan on traveling overseas! (A friend saw mine and liked it so much she cancelled her current contract and bought one for herself!)

I have owned this phone for about six months now. Overall, T-Mobile service has been decent, not service I would recommend. But T-Mobile couple w/ T720i has been horrible and unbearable at times.
First off, the T720i's menu system is slow. There is a delay in the menu. Ex: when I scroll through the phone book, there is a delay of about a second. It may not sound like a long time, but it gets quite annoying. Second, every once in a while, you have to just take the battery out of the phone and put it back in because the phone has FROZE! Third, reception is mediocre. I have took my SIM card and used it on a Samsung and the voice quality is much better. And, if you use an earpiece, beware, a loud "hissing" sound is present to both parties on the phone. I had exchanged the phone 2 times and all three T720i had the same problem. I have used 5 different earpiece and all w/ same results. Very annoying. Color screen is acceptable, I have seen better from Samsung, Nokia, and Panasonic. I have quite a few more bad qualities, but that would be too long for this review.
For positives, the phone does look good. It is easy to interchange face plates and the camera attachment is free, but of no good use. You can not take a picture and use it as a wallpic or photo callerID. Not that many positives.
Overall, this is a flimsy phone, with bad Motorola Software, and bad reception. I would not recommend this phone to any of my friends or anyone. It looks good, and thats about it. BTW, I am a 8 year veteran of cell phone usage w/ this phone being my 7th phone. By far the worst. I hate to sound negative, but my coworkers that own this phone are dealing w/ similar problems. Just not a good phone. Mediocre at most.
