The V600 has got to be one of the most hyped phones I have ever seen. People are building altars and golden shrines to it. The V600 couldn't possibly live up to the hype that has preceeded it but that doesn't mean it's not a good phone. The phone has got a helluva nice feature set and does well as a phone too, which is rare for a phone to have both.
The best thing about the V600, besides that it looks cool, is that it has great RF (signal strength for you noobies) I thought the Nokia 6820 was good, but this phone got signal where my 6820 did not. Also the feature set reads like a list of "must haves" for most cell phone junkies out there. Bluetooth, speakerphone, voicedial, NICE color screen, decent camera, MP3 ringtones, and video playback are just some of the things that make the V600 an awesome phone. The phone is almost perfect....
There's not many things I hate about this phone, but there are a few. First off...compared to Nokia phones, the User Interface is a little slow, takes a little while for the action on the screen to catch up to your button click. Secondly, and I don't know if it's just Motorola, but the Bluetooth is terrible compared to others out there. I have to constantly turn off and on either my phone, or accessories to get it to connect. Last but not least is the phonebook. Motorola just can't get this right. I guess I'm just spoiled on Nokia's system...but you can't delete massive amounts of contacts at one time, you have to have contacts on the phone to do the "cool" things like picture caller ID, you can't see just the sim contacts or just the phone contacts alone. One other thing I'll comment on that doesn't really bother me as much, but might bother some. The ability for the V600 to play video but not record it....why Moto?
**Pros
-Nice Color Screen
-MP3 Ringtones!
-Bluetooth
-Camera is decent
**Cons
-Slow UI
-Bluetooth is yucky
-Phonebook requires lots of manual labor.
Overall a great phone, doesn't live up to the hype because by the release date the phones that had been released or announced eclipsed it.

I have had my V600 for 3 days now. I love it. However, there are several small issues that keep me from finding it flawless. First and formost, it is noticable slower in menu response than several Nokia models. When ever it accessing that relitively massive 5 meg memory, there is a more than noticable pause. This means that saving or viewing images, sounds or programs takes more than a few seconds, depending on size.
Aslo, yesterday I noticed a dead Pixel. Very not happy about that.
Battery life has yet to be fully tested. But it went two days before I had to do a full charge. Thats out of the Box people. Charging however, takes much longer than on some of my previous phones. I am assuming that this is because of its larger than average capacity.
Reception so far has been fantastic, and the bluetooth is simply devine to play with at work . Easy to use, and fun too!
The V600 really is a thing of beauty, every one I've showed it off to has been either impressed or otherwise enthralled with it. I must say that i am very satisfied with it other small annoyences, it's damn near perfect. I won't be upgrading any time soon.

Personally love my Motorola V600, I admit when I first received the phone the menu response was something to complain about as I was use to phones that when you pushed a button it did what you want like THAT! However this was easily fixed by changing the phones flex version. Love the bluetooth, its great for driving and has no proablem pairing with my HS820 headset. Speaker phone is also nice, had samsung x426 as main phone prior to the V600 and couldnt live without the speaker now. As far as modding, I definately enjoy modding the Motorola V600 much more then the Samsung X426. Give the phone an 8.5 out of 10!

Let me start off by saying that this phone is absolutely AWFUL.
Now that that's out of the way.. The Motorola V600 was our official "family phone" until last week. My dad's girlfriend, Pam, got one first - several months ago. I got mine about 2 months ago, and my dad got his a few days after me. Pam's V600 worked fine as far as I know, until she tried to put on one of those new plastic casings. She broke it in the process, our first clue as to how delicate this phone is, and had to have T-Mobile send her a new one. Her second one worked essentially fine as well, until she dropped it once and the casing broke (the phone itself, however, was undamaged). Now on the second casing to her second phone, Pam's V600 decided to flash a black screen every once in awhile when she flipped it open. Little did we know that this is a common problem for V600's, and we were all going to experience it.
Dad's V600 was as delicate as Pam's. He kept the original casing on it (seeing how easily the replacement plastic one broke), but still the plastic piece surrounding the adhesive bezel where the camera and outside screen are, got a major crack all the way across it from no apparent accident. And believe me, my dad is very careful with his phones. This is just another example of how easily broken this phone is. With the crack repaired, Dad's phone began doing the screen flashing, too. About half of the time that he opens his phone to answer it, the screen would flash back and fourth from normal to black SEVEN OR EIGHT TIMES, causing the call to be lost. Being a regional manager for a trucking company, missing calls is a huge problem for him.
Now for my V600.. My V600 was the absolute WORST of all three. The very day that I got it, it would randomly (or so it seemed) not ring out loud. The phone itself received the calls, but I missed them all the time because the phone would not ring. After awhile I figured out that something must have been loose inside the phone, because if you squeezed the top right corner, it would ring for awhile. Until it decided to stop, and then you'd have to squeeze it back together again. Pretty soon, my phone starting flashing the black screen as well. Now when I open the phone, the screen stays black until I press a button. As far as delicacy, I dropped this phone one single time (on a tennis court) and it received more scratches than my Samsung S105 got in a YEAR. My V600 seriously looks AWFUL, from one fall. Besides the scratches, the phone still performed basic functions (besides the moody ringing, which still only worked when it felt like it). Then, the week before I got my new Razr, this V600 just randomly decides to not recognize when it's closed or not. So now, when the phone appears closed, the phone thinks it isn't, and the inside screen stays lit and the outside screen shows T-Mobile upside down like it would if you were talking on it.
All of these problems that I have described are IN ADDITION to the typical V600 problems described by others, like very slow menu response and randomly dropped calls. I just didn't feel like wasting more of your time with an even lengthier complaint list about this phone. Overall, I would rate this phone a NEGATIVE 2 out of ten. This thing really sucks, and I wouldn't recommend it for my worst enemy.

First off, I got the V600 because in the first week of buying a V551, it stoped working -- completely -- while I was sitting in the dealers store. I was given a second one, which lasted 3 days and stopped working the same way. Everyone was stumped; it could have been the summer heat while shipping a particular lot. They were more than good about it, so no hard feelings there.
This brings me to the V600. I decided to pay the extra money and 'trade up'. Not sure if that was a smart thing to do. So far my experience has been mixed. I agree with what most of the reviewers had to say: it's solid, nice big buttons for big guys, a cool clam shell design, etc. The battery life is much better than previous Motos, being a user since 95.
Cons: The UI is noticably slow, the center down button sticks or won't actuate (add that to a slow UI and you find yourself mashing the button repeatedly, then having to back up when it finaly works too many times). Someone called the speaker phone a loudspeaker, that better describes it's function since speaking into the d@rn thing is useless. "H--lo -ea-, I- at th- --re..." you get the idea. So, I began using the earpiece. Let me start by saying that it looks like a dollar store rip off more than an accessory for a $300 top of the line cell phone. Another odd thing; when the phone rings with the earpiece plugged in, you can take the call and everything works well enough. If the caller hangs up first, about 3 seconds later the phone starts to ring and won't stop. I have to take the stupid thing out and shut it off. Way to go Moto-QA-ers!
Finally, the side buttons are really irritating. Maybe folks with little teeny hands can handle the phone without accidentally pushing one of those things. The phone rings, I pull it out of the case accidentally pushing a button on the way out. I try to open it and the buttons are placed exactly where my fingers go to grip it, so another series of buttions are pushed.
I've even gotten to the point where I hold it by the antenae and try to flip it open by prying it with my other finger. As Howard Dean would say, "Eeeaaaaahhhh". To remedy the side button delema, I've purchased a Jabra 250 Blue Tooth headset. It totally rocks!
Thanks to your helpful and patient contributors, I've even figured out how to make the voice dial function work--again, no thanks to motorola. Ditto for the one button dial 'feature'.
So... Good phone, completely worthless documentation. I would be a super happy guy if Moto just took the time to take the 'dammits' out of using it. rated: 6

I had purchased the Motorola V600 phone less than a week after it came out. I waited for its release for months, there was always another release date when I talked to Motorola, always something that needed to be fixed before it could be released to the public. Thinking that they were just making sure there were no bugs in the phone and it would be perfect I waited patiently. Big mistake. This phone drove me crazy. I started having problems with this phone the day I had it in my hands. First I could not receive calls, which ended up being almost a week's worth of being on the phone with the carrier, trying to fix it so it would just ring. And then I will admit it was a cool phone, I loved the way it looked, I loved the variety of ringers it provided compared to my previous phone(s). Lookswise, it was absolutely perfect for me. But this phone did not run on looks alone...unfortunately. I experienced a lot of dropped calls, I had problems with the towers not receiving signals or whatever they do. So at one point when I couldn't make any calls anymore I had a refurbished one sent to me, which worked alright for a few weeks, until recently when I couldn't answer calls, I couldn't make calls, the phone would tell me about missed calls from days ago that I already answered, I never really knew what it was doing. And from now on I will never buy another phone that just comes onto the market, I learned my lesson the hard way.

I recently got the v600 after looking around for a new phone because it promised to be the phone to meet all of my needs and most of my desires.
It is a very solid design. It feels solid, even. Most other phones feel fake, plastic toy like. Not so with the v600.
All of the advertised features work like a charm.
I have three issues with the phone, however. The first would be the cost of the data/connectivity software. $60 direct from motorola (usb cable included) seems a bit high to me, and the performance of the software itself is poor (though it does work).
The second would be the predictive text feature. It sometimes seems like I'm pressing more buttons to use that than just pressing the key several times to get the character I want.
The third, and possibly most important, is the poor battery life. Advertised 'talk' time is anywhere from 5 to 7 hours, and I've yet to get over 4. Coupled with the fact the charger supplied with the phone is a trickle charger (taking anywhere from 6 to 10 hours to charge the phone depending on battery charge), my 'cordless' phone seems to be attached to a power source more often than not.
Overall though, I'd give the phone my approval, and if you can get by the increased purchase price, a good choice.

I've had almost a year to calm down since I went through the agony of switching to the V600. I'm a software engineer, know electronics and don't give up until I get through every issue my phones. I'm sorry to report that I never came close to resolving all of the issues with my V600 nor the other TWO phones that were sent to me. I finally settled for the third one because I could make calls with it, but still today I cannot use the USB bluetooth adapter to get my laptop online. Instead, I have to use the wired connection. Once on, it is a pretty fast connection when compared to 56k. My phone resets itself frequently and an intermitent problem I had with my camera not working HAS BECOME PERMANENT. No more camera. I loved my Motoroal i1000plus, but have had a terrible experience with my V600s. It's quirky and never lived up to even the basic set of functions that I bought it for. I have wasted, not hours, but WEEKS of many hours trying to troubleshoot this phone and finally gave up, which I HATE TO DO. Instead of focusing on my career and planning a wedding, I was constantly distracted with this new phone. It's like having a virus on your computer. Tons of wasted time and late nights. I'm getting ready to call Motorola to see if I can send it in to have them fix the many issues I have with it.

classic_geek pretty much described my exact situation--the flashing screen, the staying-on-even-when-closed-thus-depleting-the-battery, the random failure to ring. Additionally, though the keys work fine in phone and data modes, the one game (Stunt Driver) is inoperable because the keys no longer work as game controllers--not something I really miss that much but it's a feature for which I paid and am now denied. Ergonomically, it's a nightmare--I'm amazed I have never dropped it. It's too small, and too thin for comfortable single hand use, and as slippery as a politician. Forget about one hand answering Worse, the tiny buttons are insufficiently tactile for dialing without looking. Someone else mentioned the INCREDIBLY STUPID side buttons--I keep the phone in my pocket and I frequently notice that my keys, chap stick, or other pocket junk had pressed the buttons in such a combination as to change my ring tone and/or volume. Usually to silent. Grrr. And another thing: the display is all but invisible outdoors in sunny weather. The earpiece complaint, I dunno--my earlholes are way too smal for any of the in-ear hands free devices. The speakerphone is pretty good in that respect, but not really powerful enough for use in a convertible (with the top UP--I'm not unreasonable). Final ding: instead of a sensible recharging plug, they use one of those flimsy multiprong external things. Again, I'm amazed I haven't broken it yet. This is the very worst phone I have ever owned. Terrible design, terrible reliabillity, overladen with "features" and crap quality. I'll probably go back to Nokia after this.

I bought a Motorolla V600 from a store in St. Lucia W.I. and i am very dissapointed with what happened. Whilst still under warranty my phone started overheating and not taking the charge. When i called the Manager of the store i brought it back to them. I was told that Motorolla will be notified it is one month now i am without a phone. I am very upset about this, i trusted this phone and i was let down.

I was a Nokia tech in the past but went to Motorola products in the past couple of years because of their clam-shell design. I was very impressed with the quality of the V60ti so immediately when the v400 was released hoped on quicker than a fat man at a buffet line. But I came to a hard reality that the v400 wasnt as impressive as I had previously thought it would go to a white wcreen and lock up frequently and numerous experiences such as this led me to buy the v600 I can say I am impressed with the features of the phone but the reception quality is not what it was even with the v400 so I am am partially torn I would have to to say but I will stick with it and see was comes of it. Hope this has been helpful.

The new Motorola V 600 looks nice, personally I have not had a chance to use it yet because I would not spent almost $ 300.00 for a new cell phone, in my opinion that's nuts. The phone maybe looks nice bit there are a lot of different phones which are not so far behind, I personally have the new siemens cf 62 t also brand new on the market and I am very happy with it because is small, it has nice color lcd and also the cool blue external lcd also with 2 lines character, as well as motorola it is a 3 band phone and it has fine polymorphic lights running around the site of the phone. It is not a camera phone ( not this model, but there is one with camera) besides who needs a digital camera in the phone. siemens actually is directly targeting Motorola V 600 and it is almost the same and siemens is known from a telephony industry all over the world. The problem here in America is that there are a lot of fine European phones not available here, and many services which are being offered have been there for long time. So if you on the market for a new Motorola V 600 and don't want spent 300.00 get the new Siemens and you will not be dissapointed.

I bought my V600 after reading all the reviews for the phone on this site and other sites. Most of the reviews seem to be from people not used to using a Motorola phone so i did not pay a while lot of attention to them.
I'm upgrading from a v180 so i was looking for a unique looking clamshell phone from an older generation with a killer feature set. Compare the v600 to most other phones and its feature set is incredible on paper. Its design is stylish and attractive. I was sold.
I;ve had it for a week now and dropped the phone several times. Don;t have a singel scratch on it yet. The phone stll works great.
Okay, if you've read the posts, several people complain about the slow menu response. I agree. Out of the box the menu responce is very slow. Flashing/flexing this phone is a MUST. Flashing/Flexing fixes the menu, reception, and 90% of the other issues people complain about.
Conclusion:
Don't let the posts scare you. This is a great phone IF you flash/flex it. If not, it will be frustrating to use!
