I recently purchased the V710 (had it for about two days now). I was impressed with the internal screen's picture quality and vibrance and was exicited about being able to use the MP3 player function on the phone. I had ordered the stereo headset available for the phone but it has not come in yet. I got to thinking this morning "I wonder what other people think about the MP3 function." So I come to this site and I see the review titled V710 MP3 player. I was momentarily disheartened by the review until I decided to play around with my phone to confirm it (I couldn't believe Motorola would do such a thing). I found out that the phone does have the ability to both continuously play your MP3's and be closed while playing. All you have to do is set the songs you want to hear to a playlist and once you start playing the playlist, press the right soft key (which says "hide" on the screen). The player will hide itself and the songs will continue playing in the background while you can go about using other functions on the phone. I just wanted everyone reading these reviews to have correct information.

Motorola has created a really great phone, but evidently it has been crippled at Verizon's request.
But there's more to it then that..
As a telephone, this is the first phone that performs as well as my Star-Tac's did. The radio section is superb in fringe areas. The screen looks good, and the software contained on it is easy to use for the most part. The speakerphone sounds so good, on both ends, that my friends that despise being put on speakerphone, don't even know I'm doing it to them. The ringer is nice and loud when needed too. As a phone it is great except for a few things. 1. Motorola still won't let us turn off the low battery notification...EVEN IN SILENT MODE!! 2. The battery life could be alot better. 3. The handset speaker can't get loud enough.
These are fairly minor things....But who would pay $350.00 for a phone that only does that. The rest of it is rather disapointing..Alot of it is Verizon's fault.
1. The BVRP software that comes with the data connectivity is horrible. It doesn't recognize that the phone is connected half the time. When it synchronizes with outlook, it can't synchronize repeating events eventhough the phone supports this. The media manager doesn't work at all so you can't make ringtones, move pictures, or any of that and was supposed to be working by November 04' aqccording to Motorola Tech support. It is now the end of November.... It isn't tru-sync like the star-tac software palm pilots, Yahoo, and everything else is. That sucks if you have more then one thing to synchronize...(Palm+Phone+Outlook+Yahoo) The only redeaming feature is the phone works great as a modem (115Kbps is resonable to actually get things done)
2. The camera in bright light looks GREAT, in low (office lighting even) it gets grainy, and in the evening it's pointless to even try. The light that they put on it is pointless for anything but a flashlight since the camera's low light performance is so poor, and it's such a pain to navigate the menu's to turn it on, it's a complete waste. Oh yeah the camera is crooked too...evidently there is a recall, but Verizon tech support doesn't know anything about it.
3. The phone supposedly has an IMP4/POP3 email client like the Razr, but Verizon has had it disabled.
4. All you can do with the Bluetooth is use the phone as a modem, and use handsfree accessories. You can't sync, download files, chat, or anything else through the bluetooth radio.
5. The buttons of the keypad hit the screen when the phone is closed, and have already (3 months) scratched the inside screen nicely.
6. The phone uses Brew for applications (Courtesy of Verizon) which limits what you can get for it, and makes almost impossible to load apps on it through your computer. Brew is a system created by Quallcomm for managing the "Get it now" applications that doesn't work nearly as well as other systems, but guarantees the Cellular Provider will make more money off of you.
7. Since the phone is a Verizon only phone, I'll include this here. You can't email pictures or MP3's to your phone anymore, to prevernt you from not having to buy ringtones, and backgrounds
8. So far there doesn't seem to be a way to change the graphic on the outside display. Too bad!
Overall I am dissapointed with the phone.....Alot of that is because of Verizon. If you are looking for a good "kitchen sink" telephone, wait a little longer if you can. Definately don't go with Verizon! I would check out the RAZR from cingular. I wish I didn't hace a contract!

Overall a good phone and I love it. Here are some pros and cons that may or may have not been listed in other reviews for you to take into consideration:
Pros -
1. Great sound quality
2. Great reception
3. Phone has the ability to do everything but V-cast (though some features as we all know have been crippled big-time)
4. Great screen size inside and out. Both screens also being very clear.
5. Many variations with the rings, including completely silent with no vibration. (this is great at work, can keep the phone on and the vibrator won't kill the battery).
6. Memory isn't bad and can be expanded through transflash card.
7. Speaking of the transflash card it is great for holding music to use with the MP3 player. Or to save pics and sounds to then put on your computer using a data cable, though you can't go the opposite way.
8. A huge amount of accesories to purchase for the phone each making it so much easier to love.
9. Most of the features fairly easy to use or find.
Cons -
1. My first problem was the setup on the phone book. My Motorola with Nextel had the ability to list mulitple phone numbers under one name and list that name only once in the phone book. Unfortunately this phone lists each number individually making the search through the phone book sometimes excrutiatingly long. But this is definitely not a good enough reason to not like the phone.
2. A big and very heavy especially with the extended life battery.
3. Battery life is not the best could not do with having 2 batteries, one being an extended life.
4. Front screen can only be personalized if you are a genius hacker and know how to either flash the phone or change the seems (which I am not).
5. When Verizon crippled the bluetooth they didn't stop there. The only things I have been able to acces with a data cable are my phone book and calendar, that is less then half the time. Since software (and hardward) have a hard time seeing the phone because of Verizon's meddling.
6. You can transfer from the phone to the transflash card when you save but not from the transflash to the phone. This means no mixing of your own ringtones and putting them on your phone with out paying. Unless you have thier $5 a month "In text & pix" plan and a friend can put it on their phone and send it to you.
7. Camera is bad in any sort of lowlight plus it does not have half the options other phones have, but it wasn't what I wanted the phone for so didn't make much difference to me. Not having would be better in my opinion since my brother (who is 33) likes to act like a 12 yr-old and put his mug as my wllpaper every chance he gets.
8. I have noticed, just like everyone else who owns it, the major sensitivety of the side buttons. Especially the one that changes the ring modes. I could have the ringer all the way down and if the button gets pushed accidentaly to loud it will still ring.
9. Having Verizon as a service provider. (maybe this should be the #1 con)
There are few cons on this phone that can't be fixed since most are due to Verizons meddling. Of course to fix them you have to be a master hacker and seem editor. If you are let me know I could use your help. hee hee hee. The cons that can't be fixed that way aren't so bad that the pros don't outweigh them in my opinion.

I'm usually one to find fault with everything, but I've waited for a Bluetooth phone that is supported by Verizon for so long ...
The screens (yes, there are two of them!) are beautiful, the camera is capable (this is a phone, if you want a good camera, then buy a camera, not a phone!), sounds great (both sides of a call), and the Bluetooth works nicely with my Acura TL (battery meter and signal strength are yet to be included as displays on the dash).
I probably would have paid the $500+ (but I wouldn't have been very happy about the cost). As it is, I managed $200 off with a 2-year renewal, $70 with a rebate from Motorola, and I'm hoping to be one of the first 710 to have registered. All in all, about $250 and I'm really enjoying it. I also purchased a S/D transflash 128M "chip". I download photos onto it, then stick it in the phone, and when I get call, THE PERSON'S FACE IS ON THE OUTSIDE SCREEN !!!
I'm very happy with it thus far (owned it about four days) ...

The V710 - Myth's and reality.
The V710 really shows Motorola is back to form in the phone market. Recently, Motorola had been mired in equipment that had a pretty rough record of service. A large number of warranty repairs and replacements on phones from the last few years. Not good when considering that Motorola was a pioneer in the field.
Then comes the V710. A fine phone. Anyone whose viewed knows that it's a good looking phone. Cool looking, really. The stainless vs. black look is very cool. A phone that begs not to have a different faceplate. The inside and keypad have a nice fluid design and comfrotably laid out.
How does it work. Great. The reception issue of recent are now gone. I've held calls in areas that I was certain to drop call before. Perhaps the call got choppy for a moment but it held to it. Audio is outstanding. Very clear. The external speaker? LOUD! I can never put the ringer above the 3rd notch or I might get blasted like a Who concert in 1979. This is a good thing becuase it makes the handset good for loud places and, let's face it, you don't always know when your phone is vibrating.
The camera...Well, I've heard much ado about the 'so-so' camera. It's not as bad as others have said. When you take a pic and view it on the screen, it does look rather poor. This would be the only flaw I've really noted with the phone. However, if you send the pic to a service, such as the Verizon pix place via Get it Now, the pictures turn out rather well. they are actually pretty clear and if handled the right way, print decently. You can't expect a phone (yet) yo have the digital depth of a 5 megapixel $700.00 SLR styled camera so you may want to avoid dark rooms for your pictures. I've taken pictures on the phone of various co-workers for a newsletter and printed out with that letter. They looked good. Be reasonable with your expectation and the camera will work very well for you.
My end review...Highly recommended.

Fantastic phone. I've never seen anything so small do so many things. But lets face it, it could have been done a little better.
MP3. I'm spoiled with my PDA's MP3 player, and think the interface on the phone could have been better. A volume control would be nice, and the ability to change songs without opening the phone would be even better. The manual has nothing on actually using the MP3 player, or Transflash memory and Motorola's site wasn't any help either. It took me forever to realize that I had to change the storage device to access my songs.
Bluetooth: I had a Jabra Freespeak that I had to plug a transmitter/reciever into the 2.5mm jack on my old Motorola T720. It's a completely different animal on this phone. I don't have to turn the Jabra on, press the botton on the side of the phone, and say a name anymore. I just tap and speak and can do it while the phone is across the room. I haven't tried to sync with bluetooth yet, because I still have to buy the dongle for the PC. I suspect that everything ties into their software, which like everything else, you have to buy separately.
The camera is 10X more useful than my PDA's. The integrated Light/Flash is a disappointment, so don't count on indoor pics, but the resolution is fantastic and much more useful than the old "snickerpics" that were stuck in the phone or network. Oh, and the shutterspeed is extremely slow, so you'll need a steady hand or it will blur everytime.
Someone mentioned not being able to play more than one song at time; make a playlist. Someone else mentioned outdoor usability with the display. I've never seen an LCD display you could use in sunlight, cup your hand over it to shade it. I also had the opportunity to call Motorola Tech support, and couldn't believe how helpful and knowledgable the person I connected with was on this relatively new model so feel free to call with problems.
The battery life is an unbelievable 2 days, and reception is far and away superior to what I had with the T720 which required me to stand in my yard on one leg and touch my nose to get a signal.
The long list of other options have uses too, if nothing more than bragging rights, but these three are what all the hype is about. The MP3 being first on my list, I'm a little disappointed, but not enough to dog it completely.

I've had my v710 for about a month now, and overall I'm pretty satisfied with it.
PROS
1. Getting a Transflash card lets you listen to MP3's, wallpapers, ringtones, etc on your phone...and the card only costs 25 bucks from Amazon.com
2. Tons of features -- awesome speakerphone, voice memos, pictures, video clips with sound, nice calendar.
3. Big, bright, screen.
4. Nice phonebook, can display via pictures, or just by list.
CONS
1. Dust got under my screen.
2. Somewhat large phone.
3. No outside picture, the outside design is determined by the color scheme you choose in your settings.
4. Color schemes for displays suck, silver is the best.
5. When battery is low, it makes loud obnoxious beep every few minutes, and no apparant way to stop it from doing so besides turning the phone off or charging it.

Am I nuts? After reading several posts here I realize that maybe I chose Verizon Wireless for the wrong reason...the best cell service available! Perhaps they dumbed down the V710 but I have no problems making and receiving phone calls. I cannot say the same for the other service providers out there. That's why I am paying premium prices for Verizon service and it is paying off.
Now, about the V710: I don't have any of the problems that I have just read about. I use a 256MB trans-flash and a USB card reader (one I can carry in my pocket). I simply plug the trans-flash into the reader, pop the reader into a computer and transfer away treating it like any other drive. When I'm finished on the computer I pop the trans-flash back into the phone and I can copy whatever to the phone from the trans-flash.
The Bluetooth? I use it for hands free operation of the phone. That's all. I also use the MP3 player and custom rip my own music specifically for the phone (Variable Bit Rate - 64 to 128 kbps). It sounds great through the stereo headphones and I can pack a bunch of songs onto the trans-flash. The contact list works great in "Primary Contacts" mode. Each name listed once and each may contain several numbers.
Last of all, who really paid $350.00 for the V710? I paid $270.00 for Three V710's. I have the family plan and we all really like our phones. And we Really, Really, Really like the service and phone audio qualities. That's 6 thumbs up for the Motorola V710.
If i ever need to go on-line or other fancy stuff I will buy a Treo. It is designed for that kind of usage.

Hey Everyone,
I used this site quite a bit when researching my recent phone purchase so I figure I need to "give back" for everyone who is going through the same thing I was.
A little quick background... I was a Sprint customer for 6-7 years. Wife needed a new phone. Was going to buy her a new one at Sprint. Then mine broke and we needed two. Then I started contemplating providers and made the swith to Verizon for many reasons that aren't on topic here. I have been happily on Verizon for a few weeks now.
I originally purhased an LG VX-8000 because they did not have this phone when I was buying. I traded it back in and I have now had this phone for almost a week.
PROS:
Internal screen: Good color, bright and clear.
Bluetooth: Even in limited form provides a good benefit.
Good keys: Different layout with the center keys, but easy to adjust to.
Design & Shape: This is a good looking phone! Slides in pocket easily despite size.
Web: Large screen, good browser (Openwave).
Storage: Via Transflash card (extra 256 MB!).
Speakerphone: Good on both ends, people don't even know I am using it.
Accessories: Lots of them!
CONS:
Outside screen: Cannot personalize much.
Bluetooth: Why limit the capabilities (Verizon). Lots of hacks out there to remedy.
Flip: Does not feel as strong as some, not sure how it will hold up.
Interfaces: American vs. Japanese? Not an intuitive as LG and Samsung
Camera: Grainy, Settings are cumbersome to use. Not good quality photos.
Again, I have not had the phone too long and I have read a lot of reviews regarding negative reliability. So far it is working great for me. I like this phone and the features are rich for the price I paid ($150 w/$50 rebate) so I am content with the price.
We'll see how it holds up. Now it's off to buy Bluetooth gadgets and memory cards to accompany this phone!

This is the perfect phone to buy. First of all, if you pay cash at select Verizon stores, you get a $50 rebate, so you only spend $100 on this phone. Second, this phone supports all the media in cell phones now: music (.mp3 or .mid), movies (.3g2 or .3gp), and games from Verizon's Get It Now! service. The only thing it lacks is V-Cast, but that costs $15 a month anyway, so you save money. Plus, V-Cast quality is poor, so you are not missing much. Third, there is enough onboard memory for everything, but it supports upgradable memory in the form of a TransFlash card. I am using a 256 MB TransFlash card and have never even used 50% of the space yet. Fourth, there are workarounds for everything. Even though Verizon blocked USB and BlueTooth transfer of Pictures and Video, using a transflash card will transfer these.
This phone lacks nothing. Picture quality is pretty good, but if you are into that stuff you shouldn't be getting a phone, but rather a digital camera. I give this phone a 10 out of 10.

Man..... How could people possible write such horrible responses to the Motorola V710. I have absolutely no problems with this phone. MP3 Playback is configured to be as a auto-playlist, with one gigabyte of a Transcard (SD) You can't live without this phone. It's like you are attached with it. The sound quality is excellent! It's like having Bose in front of your ears. My standby time on this time actually came out to be like 7 days (1 week). And my talk time turned out to be like 205 minutes. The only problem have with this phone is the image quality. Motorola really do have to improve the way they make camera for their phones. I mean I see some flickers time by time anywhere I would take a picture. Taking the pictures outside are outstanding with 1.2 megapixels! It's worth a try viewing them on your own computer. I definitely have no negative comments on the vibrator. The vibrator really is a good tool, if you don't want to distract someone, he/she. I'm able to have the vibrator control ring a tone while it vibrates, and the ringtones are loud and crisp. This phone is static (metaphor). You can't resist starring at the phone. You can't even let go of it, as I told you previously. This phone (The Motorola V710 Series) is just simply the bomb. Beat that!!! LG, SONY!!! Including NOKIA. These companies have to get rid of their simple phones and bring full bluetooth compatibility onto air. The Motorola V710 is bluetooth-enabled, but all I have to say about this feature is that, unfortunately, Verizon Wireless have disable it. May be some day, there could be a possibility of hacking the program and control the disabled features behind Verizon's back! Just Kidding....... Higly Recommended!
One Other thing...... I'm able to make phone calls, even when the retractable antenna is internal. I've noticed that most of these kind of antenna's should actually be raised up externally, in order to place calls. But when I placed one simple 6 minutes and 37 seconds call, it would even when the antenna wasn't raised up at all (meaning, internal). This cell-phone can possible mean that it can work, both internal, and external uses when the phone itself, has a retractable antenna feature. To raise the antenna up, making it external may mean for better reception (Stronger signal connection), or even for long distance, national and international world-wide. When making the retractable antenna internal, this probably means to use the phone in local areas, and shorter wave frequencies of the signal strength, from Verizon Wireless. Best of all, this phone has it all!!!

Ok, I've recently gotten a Motorola V-710 and it's a heck of a lot better than the phones I'm used to. I've had a few nice phones (i.e. Sanyo PM-8200, Sanyo SCP-8100, and Motorola V-276) and I especially like this new one.
Let's address the camera first. No, it's not the best one in the world. But it's meant to be an add on. It's a phone first and foremost. Use the camera outdoors or in a well lit room, you take a picture and you send it to someone. That's what it's for. You'll never shoot a cover for Life magazine with it but if that's what you bought it for, then you have issues.
Secondly, the speaker phone is absolutely the best I've ever heard or used. Half the time I don't even tell people they're on speaker and they still don't know it.
Thirdly, the MP3 player. Most people don't have the resources, time, or patience to find out how to use it since it's not in the user's manual. Buying a transflash memory card is the first thing you need to do. Secondly, you need to by the USB card reader instead of the expensive data cable. The card reader allows you to cut and paste as many MP3's as you can directly onto the card. Then you can listen to them via headphones or the speaker on the back of the phone. Once again, this is a phone and not a personal entertainment center. The sound quality is dependent on the quality of the song you downloaded. In order to play more than one song, you must make a play list, just like with any other MP3 player. Take the time to figure out your phone before you post something and complain about how it doesn't work.
And honestly, how important is it to have a different picture on the display of your phone? Do you absolutely have to have a picture of your dog be behind the clock on the screen that you never look at since it goes black after 30 seconds anyway? Also, I have mine through Alltel and it only cost me 129 bucks (and I got a 50 dollar rebate). I could care less how bad Verizon is or how they've butchered the phone. The phone is what we're supposed to be talking about here, not the provider or lack of provider support.
The Bluetooth (HF800) works fine on mine and I haven't had any problems being able to take tunes from my computer and chopping them into manageable ring tone sizes. All in all, this phone is great. Great browser, amazing speaker phone, Bluetooth, MP3 player, video camera is perfect for the type of application you would use it for, and a camera that does what I would expect a camera on a phone to do.
One thing I didn't notice anybody mention is the fact that you can take your transflash card out and take it to a photo center to print off photos that you've taken with your phone. As long as they're saved to the card (mine's a 256MB card and they're selling 512MB cards now) you can drop them in, edit, retouch, and print them. So any problems you've had with the picture quality can be easily taken care of at your neighborhood photo development center.

One feature that no one seems to mention is the 120 last dialed and received numbers (60 + 60). So few phones have this kind of capability. For business, I find this to be a very useful feature. I hope that future models retain this capability.
Another feature I like is the name dial and digit dial. These make for much safer driving while doing business, etc.
A downer: The Motorola BlueTooth headsets are really bad for blocking out background noise. I have had to go back to wired headsets that have noise cancelling microphones because people tell me they cannot understand what I am saying to them. Around the house they are OK, but in a sportscar they are worthless.

Ok, I've only had the 710 for 3 days I don't like the white color key pad, though I may be able to live with it. I'm on a test run I've got 12 days left to make up my mind! Ive had 3 phones in 3 weeks a Samsung, which I liked the way it charged, the docking base!!! The LG VX7000 which is really a nice phone, size easy to use, and well it just plan looks cool. But coming home from work today. My phone rang, it was a friend and it came over the speaker phone Bluetooth HF800 which I didn't even know I had on!!! lol. Anyway, besides the muffled voice of me when I talked it worked very well, even hanging from my pocket when I got out of the car she said she could still hear me... ya gotta like when that happens!!! So I write again soon to let ya know how this bad boy is working out for me.Until then over and out!! PS if Im gonna be stuck with the same phone for 2 years I want well the best I can find, for Verizon.

I have this phone like 4 days ago. And it's so cool. This is the best phone I ever had. I have the Audiovox 8910, Lg Vx3300. And this phone ROCKS..
I ordered the 512Mb TransFlah card and the HS120 Stereo Headset and I can’t wait. Some people have problems whit the side buttons. Just lock the keys. Press menu button and press * and you’re keys are locked, do the same to unlock. In reception this phone has A+. The only thing that is a little bad is that you can have multiple phones on one contact and you don’t have games. You can play MP3 on the speakers or in the headset. The camera is GREAT and the resolution it’s good (not as good as a Digital Camera) but it’s a phone..

The v710 MP3 player is a joke. The sounds is great provided that you have the special motorola one touch headset and you don't mind walking around with a open flip up cell phone in your hand or an open cell phone attached to your hip( here is a great way to break your phone quickly). The MP3 player stops after every song. I thought a MP3 player plays music one song after another. Does anyone know if there is a way to play the MP3 player when it is closed and to keep the music playing one song after another. The pictures(outside pictures only) from the camera are not bad at all. The v710 could use a volume increase when it comes to listening to someone on the other end of the phone. On a scale of 1-5 this phone could have been a 4.5, but the issue of the MP3 player and volume makes this phone a 3 at best.

The phone is great yeah its big but hey the phone has everything you want camera,mp3. The camera is great. MP3 is good but first you need to get a memory card and if you get the memory card that says lock on the side don't push it down cause that will make it "write protected" and you don't want that so just leave it! Phone has great sound quality and you can even close the phone and listen to music all you need to do is push "hide" its on the side of the screen. When your putting the music on the memory card let it save first cause if you take it out right away all the songs won't load in it right.
The only thing i don't like about it is that when you leave the phone on to long some things won't work like the zoom on the camera so you have to turn off your phone and turn it back on other than that its great.

I was one of the first to get the V710. Bought it from Radio Shack, weeks before it was released by the Verizon Store. I loved it, I could create an MP3 file, transfer it from my PC to the Trans Flash card, then in the phone save it as a Ringtone....really cool. Then I upgraded the software at Verizon and all that changed. I am now stuck with what Verizon thinks I should have as ringtones (or pay for what they offer). I am now looking for an new wireless service provider. Any suggestions?

I couldnt wait for the phone as a) i had an acura with bluetooth built in
B) I hated sprint and wanted to go to verizon... so I was very happy when it came out
the Motorola Blue tooth wireless head set is great too....
a few issues
1) It needs a more protective case
2) the phone is kind of big
3) ear peice on phone is in an awkward spot so in order to keep it on your ear when using phone so you need to keep movng it around to hear
4) Jog button is small and too sensative
otherwise GREAT

The phone has some annoying quirks, like not being able to set message notification to only sound ONCE. Camera is marginal during the day, sucks at night, low light. Way too easy to brush against a side button and change ring settings, or activate camera/voice commands by mistake. Lack of true Bluetooth functionality is a major disappointment, and promoting this phone as "Bluetooth capable" is blatant false advertising.
Verizon's and Motorola's customer service with regards to this phone was a complete cop-out, they blamed everything on each other. Never could get a straight answer out of either company on when to expect upgrades to the firmware.
Wished I'd gone with another service, now I'm stuck with these bozos for two years.

I bought a new v710 about a week ago, i have been fiddeling with it ever since and found it to be a pretty decent phone with some nice features that i didnt have the luxury of in my other phone a motorola T720..allthought i cant talk bad about it. I really enjoy the speakerphone it works excellent and so do the voice commands all though the camera is quite a dissapointment. It isnt consistant and takes very poor pictures half the time and the picture button on the side is very touchy and so are the rest of the side buttons..is there a way to lock them maybe? i bought this phone looking for good features a nice platform for get it now and lots of memory..i wasnt impressed with the memory size. I looked online for a new memory card it was like 128 somthin-er-others im not real fluent with computer memory talk but it seemed like a good idea to buy one for pictures and such. Iam aware of a MP3 player on the phone and am interested..i was wondering if anyone could tlel me how to get it to fucnction or how to activate it..by reading reviews it seems like you just need a headest but i wonder where the music comes from because in our world today it probobaly wouldnt be free. I mean do you need a memory card to put it on? or would i have to hook it up to my computer somehow? would someone please post somthing on how i can use my MP3 player because i have no idea how to use it..i would appreciate it..thanks!

Verizon just dropped this phone and I'm starting to understand why after 48 hours of using it. I've read mixed reviews but I wanted Bluetooth and analog capability, the V910 is the only one that does both.
I was hoping to replace my LG VX400 with it but it's not looking good. The reception is great - the best of any phone I've ever seen on Verizon, which is hugely important to me.
Unfortunately, the battery life is killing me. Without using any of the multimedia features the basic talk time is maybe 1/3 of the LG, which has about 50,000 minutes on the original battery.
The BT crippling thing isn't an issue since I only want to run a headset from it, so I also picked up an HS850 headset. It's small, light, comfortable, and doesn't make me look like a complete dork, but the audio quality is so bad I can't use it.
The picture and video performance is everything you've heard - awful. I thought it would be fun, especially since I'm a professional photographer, but it's bad even by bad cell phone camera standards, and just gets in the way.
I think they could have done a lot better on the user interface and visibility of text and menus. It looks and feels more like a translation of a non-english interface than the older LG's had, needing more keystrokes and energy just to do really basic things with it.
But mostly it's the short talk times and poor audio quality with the HS850 that's putting it back in the bag for now.

I had the Audiovox CDM 8900....and I hated it....I heard about this phone and I decided to pay full price to get it...so far...I don't regret it. The phone is really nice....it has alot of features...the camera phone is nice...way better than my previous phones. And I love the speakerphone.
The few things that I hate about the phone is that I can't tell the time when I am talking on the phone. Then when like everybody else said....they the outer buttons are very sensitive and the outer screen is terrible. I can't stand the fact that's it's big too.
I am known to break my phones so I bought the body glove...I have dropped the phone a hell of alot of times and the phone is still like new.
So my advice would be if you like the features of the phone...get it and buy the body glove....and you won't regret it.

Ok here is the gig, nice phone!! A little dicey. But does sooo much in the USofA. Though it is a bit FAT! Or shall I say wide. Takes very good pictures but not at night, though Motorola is selling a CD and USB cable that do nothing for me.They told me in 30-90 days I will get more help! They are selling the one for the v600 as it does something for me!! It don't work. Ok fine,I will wait for that.I bought the bigger card the transflash 128mb syno943,600 pictures!! WOW! though I have a GatewayTC-T50 5.25megs I may need 1.2 megs in a flash. As for the Bluetooth speaker HT800,,junk! Also tryed out the HS820 headset not bad, but the 250 will last 8 hours! (Which is in the mail)About the same price for the 250 and the 820,80 bucks. To sum it all up I wish I could of waited another year or so to get my next phone, but now Im stuck!! with it and them!!! lol

Plain and simple.. don’t get this phone unless you want a lot of headaches and back and forth trips to the store to send it for repairs…
I just have to say that after owning different phones for over 10years… the V710 is officially the worst phone I have ever owned. Immediately after three months the phone began to give me problems. First it was small issues like the keys would lock, the calls would drop… then one day as I turned to take my phone out of my purse, I realized it was off and wouldn’t turn on again… the service station tested the battery, put in a new battery and nothing worked, it was decided that the battery was not the issues and there’s software problems… it was in “repair” for over 2weeks came back with a note… “major component has been replaced”. This major component erased my entire phonebook.
After that it’s been problems after another. For example, an alarm clock set for 8pm, won’t stop ringing at 11am. And no matter how many times I try to disable it, it just won’t work. Then it shuts itself off and once back on, same crap all over again and all of a sudden it begins working again. It’s as if the phone’s possessed. Now the battery is dying too.
I’ve only had the phone for 7months and after a 15minute phone call it’s down to one bar and 10minutes after that, it beeps out of battery until you are sick and tired of the beeping to shut it off… but if you decide to keep it on and try to dial, it’ll shut itself off anyway.
There’s no winning with this phone! The phone has great features but for what it’s worth, and the amount of headache it has caused, I can officially say that it’s not a phone I would recommend anyone to get.

After reading the vast amount of posts raving about this phone (with the exception of the MP3 player, camara & dumbed down Bluetooth), I don't get it. Am I the only one that needs to replace the phone every 3 months?
Our office has an account with Verizon for company issued cell phones, we have 45 total. We need a tri-mode because of the remote area were our guys work. The V710 was the next in line after the V60s & the V276, which are both great phones and have been running great for 4+ years. Anyhow, the V710s tend to crap out after 3 months. They stop holding a charge or the screen goes out or the charger connection falls out. I can't beleive I'm the only one that has this problem?
We are currently on the hunt for a new phone, but need to stick with these crappy V710s until then (they are the last tri-mode model Motorola is making hang-up cups for for the hands-free kits).

I purchased this phone Dec. 2004. Great deal actually as I paid $300 for it but the vendor included a $330 rebate if sent in 6 mos. later. I did. Thus I actually got the phone for free + received $30 to boot!
In less than one year it had a malfunction but was under warranty so had it replaced at a Verizon store for no charge.
Since then its worked flawlessly. I have the extended battery so I charge it probably once a week.
The camera photo's are poor but usable.
The ring around the lens has fallen off somewhere along the line.
I can't get it to ring loud enough for me.
Its only been dropped once getting out of a car.
The bluetooth works excellently.
The only other features I've used in nearly 3 yrs of ownership are, Sending pix to other verizon phones, the camera, the voice recorder, the video recorder, connect to bluetooth earpiece, and the calculator.
I am about to invest in a a840 to get the international features. I will be able to use the same batteries plus all functionality and menus remain the same except it is not bluetooth enabled. That's unfortunate.
