I've just purchased a 2600 for use with TracFone within the last few weeks. I am already impressed with the signal and call quality in the short period of use so far. I still have my prior Cingular phone (Nokia 3360, have not yet ported my number over) and have been carrying both around to see how the signal strength compares. The old phone was a prior AT&T Wireless (acquired by Cingular) phone (older network technology) and the 2600 is a GSM phone - both are digital, but the GSM phone has consistently better signal strength and call quality.
The GSM service supporting TracFone in my home area is provided by Cingular, but I can roam onto other networks that TracFone has agreements with. My friend has a Cingular GSM phone and I get better signal than she does in some situations, and equal at all others.
The ringer choices on the 2600 are nice and the size and weight are convenient. The screen is bright and colorful and has good resolution. I find the menu system to be easy to use and the battery life has been excellent. My old 3360 accessories (Car charger, headset) work with the new phone.
I have had reason to use the TracFone customer service (due to my fault) and have had nothing but a pleasant, polite service from them. I mistakenly requested a phone number change which they honored and then even changed for me again when I figured out that cell phone numbers in my area *could* have a different area code and still be local. Go figure. BTW, all my calls were answered in under 2 minutes, despite their having a message stating that they were experiencing heavy call volume due to "Holiday traffic". Unexpected but good.
I got turned on to TracFone when we were researching a low use emergency cell phone for my "Father in Law". The Nokia 1100 has worked out wonderfully for him - a first piece of "high tech" for an octogenarian. Once I understood the economics of the plan, I figured out it fit my usage pattern too (~15-25 minutes per month with infrequent roaming/long distance use when on trips). The 1100 and 2600 qualify for the "SingleRate" plan, so calls are always at 1 unit for 1 minute when roaming, local, long distance or not.
I figure our monthly cost to be <$9 each with the phone included, after the refer-a-friend and 1 year card purchase and bonus codes usage (bonus codes come in the package).
Should you be interested in TracFone service, please do take advantage of their refer-a-friend promotion. With it both you and the person that refers you get a credit for 100 free minutes of service (and possibly a 60 day extension - which I got when referred by my Father in Law, but may not work for you?). If you don't already know someone with TracFone service, I would be happy to refer you. Address at the top of this review.
BTW, I have my phone now enabled to both send and receive email in addition to SMS text messages, which takes some special effort - as it is not supported by TracFone - but can be set up if you know how and your area utilizes Cingular's network for TracFone service. I'll include that info with the referral email - may work for you too.
Hope you enjoy your 2600 and the TracFone service!

The refurbished Nokia 2600 by tracfone is a great phone, with very useful spreadsheet, keyguard lock, reminder etc.. Nokia launched it for professionals and serious users, it dosn't have many 'extras' but it works perfectly for what cell phones were made to do, make calls on the move!
Models are there with Camera, bluetooth..for those interested. I am a happy user by its cost effective features, it cost me less than $40, and It weighs less than most phones and the battery lasts extremly long times without charging. It rings well, Hands free, SMS, managing spreadsheet, convert, waking up and Reminds well. So that it's a fine phone, which I was searching long - Sure its outstanding for its class.
Moving on to tracfone, my experience using tracfone was very good. Coverage and connections were not a problem. TracFone has established reseller agreements with the nation’s leading network carriers giving it the nation’s largest digital coverage area in the prepaid industry with a local phone number in every county in the U.S.

The Nokia 2600 is a great phone. For a price of only $50 it is a HUGE steal. It is packed with great features. Tracfone, the service provider I use, gives you great service everywhere. Poly ringtones, 3 games, it has evrythind except downloadable games. I still would recommend this phone. 9/10

This is a great phone at a cheap price!
It is great for those people who want the basic things from a mobile phone and I can guarantee that it is great at performing these basic things. The only sad thing is that there is no gprs and downloadable games but as I said this is a phone with the basics. It is like having a nokia 3310 with a colour screen but it has a nicer shape, colour screen, cool white back-light and a spreadsheet. It also has a sticky plastic patch at the back of the phone so it won't slide off tables easily when vibrating. The covers are also swappable.
PROS:
Great Cheap Price
Colour Screen
Nice Design
Not Big
Cool White Backlight
3 Games
Long Battery Life
Fast text typing
X-PRESS ON covers
CONS:
No Downloadable Games
Basic Phone Features Only.
Conclusion:
My Rating: 8/10
For a person looking for basic phone features: 10/10
For the Mobile phone Innovator: 1/10

The Nokia 2600 is a rock-solid phone for a very reasonable price ($50). I bought mine in conjunction with a 1 year Tracfone plan ($8/mo.) and have been very happy with both the phone and service. The vivid full-color display is easy to read. All organizational features are very useful.
I travel constantly and have not encountered reception problems. The 2600 is a GSM phone and utilizes the same nationwide network as T-Mobile/Cingular. There is no roaming. I highly recommend this phone or the Nokia 1100 for this reason.
