If you want just a phone, this model is for you. I didn't need access to the internet, I already have a digital camera, so I was looking for something to send a receive calls, and this fits the bill just fine. The antenna only needs to be extended if your reception is sketchy in some area. I have yet to have pulled it out, so I hardly notice that it's there. It's lightweight, looks good (also have face plates you can buy) plus it's affordable (Free!).

this is a phone that could have been semi-decent, but just didn'y quite make it. we're in the 21st century. no one still needs pull-out antenas. the 3588i comes with an amazing 4096 colors, but no camera, e-mail or mms funktions. this means that you're stuck with the slim selection of backgrounds that are given to you when you buy the phone. when bought with a sprint calling plan the software limitations are just a joke. sprint doesn't let you do anything. there's no way to reset the number for the sms-measge center which is often usefull to save a cent or two for sending text mesages. probably the worst infringment is the fact that it is impossible to check the length of previous calls. so if you have limited minutes it is extremely hard to figure out when they've all been used. but don't worry. you won't get around to using you're minutes because the reception is so bad that it automaticly roams into the vorizon network and charges $0.50 a minute. the fact that the phone has the tendency to turn itself off and or get stuck in the middle of another useless animation, doesn't improve my opinion of this piece of junk. i was highly amused when they tried to aply the"great" talking time of up to 3 hours as a goodsales argument. the menu is quite clear and the phone has a nice feel to it. i still don't know why it has to be iluminated from all sides though if it already has to fight with a much too week batery. at least it came for free with the plan i got.
